In the first season of The Clone Wars, I cant remember the exact episode. But Jedi Master Kit Fisto comes across Grievous's lair. When Fisto enters the home you see statues of someone. Does anyone know who the statues are? They seem like they could be Kaleesh warriors. But I could be wrong.

    They're of Grievous himself.

The statues are of Grievous himself before he became a Cyborg.

Yes, they are Grievous in the different stages of become a Cyborg. The Cyborg we all know and love.

It was explained all on the Bluray Extras for Season One.

This, of course, contradicts the pre-established story that Grievous had one terrible "accident" and with one visit to the operating table became the final product of terror. TCW implies that he did it willingly and gradually.

Maybe it was Sidious' sick pre-op to post-op statue fetish at work? Again.

What ever happened to his people? I always found it odd that he didn't recruit some as bodyguards — mainly because they look and seem like they would make good warriors.

He wanted to, but San Hill forbid him, and that's how MagnaGuards were created (that was mentioned in "Unknown Soldier" by Abel G. Pena, I believe). And after the Clone Wars, Kaleesh were attacked by Imperial forces, because of their ties to the Confederacy (I'd like to see that in "Rebels" - Filoni, read this! :D). You can find out more here:

Edited memory. At least, I think that's the explanation given in one of the background books aimed at younger ages- that Grievous thinks he modified himself- but is wrong.

There were four in a series- Beware the Sith, Mysteries of the Jedi, The Secret Life of Droids, and Battles of the Galaxy, I think they were called.

True. And I think that Pena's interpretation of this character suits well into TCW. He wrote it way before "Lair of Grievous":

" But the key is that Grievous wasn't forced. "Eyes of Revolution" shows us that he chose to discard most of his body and become a killing machine, rather than choosing death."

So, everything can be explained, it's just a matter of interpretation :).
