that does seem expensive :( they are just the price of normal chart DVDs here - meaning you'll get them from amazon for £12 each (about $20).

The DVDs are worth getting, because the bonus DVD is packed with extras worth viewing if you are a fan :)

The Red Dwarf DVD's have certainly had a lot of effort put into them. Very impressive considering some shows put in minimal effort.

Yeah the DVDs are awesome. There is just so much on them! I got series VII a few weeks ago when it came out here in the US and I still haven't seen everything on them. I was very pleased to see the extended versions of a the episodes that had them. Very cool.

I got one of the DVDs in a special set that came with a small Starbug model. My local MVC had a couple on the shelf but not for long!
And that is a high price for the DVDs in the US.

Rimmer: Gah! I'm surrounded by goits! Holly, you're a goit!
    Holly: I'm a what?
    Rimmer: You heard!

Rimemr then enters the next scene in a totally ludicrous hairstyle, courtesy of Holly.

Confidence: Oxygen is for losers! *takes off helmet*

The Cat: *speaking through a megaphone* Attention, all lady cats! I am feeling very sexy!

How many non-British fans are out there?

I was first introduced to it several years ago on PBS at around 1:00 on Sunday morning. I fell in love with it instantly.

Anyone else see it like this?

When is the next DVD out ? I could look on Amazon, but I figured Everton would have the date burned into his brain

Ah yes. Red Dwarf VIII is out on the 27th.

And on the 30th, in Swindon (of all places) the entire cast are signing copies at the 'Infinitely Better' shop in the Brunel Centre. So I'm going to plead for the time off and then go. :D

    of March ?

    I assume so.

I'd like to go as it might be the last time the cast are together.....Swindon is a bit of a trek though.......

I'm an American and I first saw it at a friend's house years ago, before Series VII. His mom is Scottish and his dad is English so they watched all sorts of British TV. I first saw the Series IV video that had Dimension Jump, White Hole, and Meltdown. I was instantly hooked.

Has anyone ever gone to Dimension Jump? I've never made it but I have read some good things in the Fan Club magazine..

Edit - UKTV G2 are currently showing the episode Meltdown. Haven't seen it in awhile.

the outtakes from Meltdown are extremely funny - worth watching - especially Chris Barrie's impressions of Kenneth Williams and Lester Piggot. (although they possibly won't make much sense to an american.

Right here. (And it's funny. I was only thinking of making a thread here about RD just this morning.)

Got all the episodes on tape, and the local PBS station just started airing it again. (Two episodes back to back on Late Monday morning.)

"I've never seen one before. No one has. But I'm guessing its a White Hole."

just got my DVD yesterday - haven't watched it yet.

    Love the toy ;)

I also appreciate them presenting two of the episode collections as "feature length" episodes :) cool :)

Well, sadly, I think that's the end of the line for Red Dwarf - the final hurrah - the last popodom :(

I saw the Collectors Edition in my local HMV today but didn't get it. If they have it next time I might cave under the pressure.

    Dude. I am the coolest.

Yesterday my brother and I spent the day attending a Red Dwarf cast signing in Swindon.

    What a smegging day.

Queued for three hours and for that we got an hour and a half to spend with the entire cast. :D

If you are so inclined to look, here's some pics (all pics about 160kb):

They all come out to do a publicity shot before we got started:

    Chris Barrie:

    Danny John-Jules and Norman Lovett:

    Craig Charles:

    Me with Robert Llewellyn:

Me getting strangled by Mac MacDonald (Captain Hollister):

    Chloë Annett and Craig Charles:

Additionally, we got the cast to sign a glossy photo, behold:

    http://www.foxwelldrive.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/rdg1.jpg

And they had a pro photographer on call to take photo's with the cast members, get them printed off there and then and then get them signed. We had four done, two of Chris Barrie, one of Craig Charles and one of Danny John-Jules. Here is the Danny John-Jules one (the quote is "This is a job for the Riviera Kid!" :D :

All of the cast were really friendly and chatty. Totally okay with photos and having a chat. Also got two Red Dwarf books (one making of and one script) signed by the cast, and Danny John-Jules' Tongue Tied LP & CD signed by the man himself. We even asked Chris Barrie to do the Rimmer salute for the camera (it has a movie mode)... and he obliged. Absolute gold.

    ...

    EDIT: A few more pics:

    Everton?s brother here.

It was a fabulous experience, ill never forget it. From the moment they were all greeted with thunderous applause from the crowd the day just got better and better.

As Everton?s already mentioned, I asked Chris Barrie if he would do the Rimmer salute for us, he very kindly obliged. I have taken some screen grabs just to prove he did it :)

Got the RD 8 DVD set as a gift yesterday. It was the Collectors Edition.

Edit - nice pics, Everton & Sevv. I met a bunch of the cast at a Forbidden Planet signing some time ago.

I thought there were only 7 Dvds, not 8, no matter!

Watched some of the episodes from season 2 today, ah classic timeless stuff!

Unlocked this and upped it due to some news. From The Official Robert LLewellyn Forums:

At the KTCS9 20th Anniversary evening tonight, Robert announced to a small crowd that a brand new, 1 hour Red Dwarf episode had been commissioned by BBC Worldwide, to be filmed in October 2008.

He wouldn't spoil the storyline, but did mention that the script is being finalised right now.

I was in the audience, it was a good night, with not too many people, and plenty of chances for questions.

It was recorded by KTCS9 for a future DVD.

    Good news if true!
