Group Leaders?

jd brought up the suggestion that we make a list of all of the members of our subgroups on the web site, however, i don't see why we all can't be members of all of the subgroups instead of only certain ones. instead, i put forth the suggestion that we vote for a leader of each of the individual groups, then i can put contact info for those individuals on the site (for prospective members) as well as make the groups their own forums (which don't have to be used in replace of these forums, but i thought it may be an added convenience to the site for the individual groups to have their own place as well) which the leader of that group would be the moderator of.

just a suggestion. thoughts?

well, I think we kinda decided that everyone was or could be members of the subgroups, but we would have a list of the people who were the "experts" for the group so that everyone could know who to go to with their gaming/prop/costume/collecting/graphics questions respectively.

 

I think, judging from our posts and their coordination, two of our groups have obvious leaders

Smuggler's Alliance - chunk_the_jawa

The Imperial Outfitters is a definate toss up between JediGirlofCorellia & darth_hair, so I say we have co-chairs & make DH the Props Master & JGoC the Costumes Maven.

The IG-88 group should decide amongst themselves for a leader.

Just my nickel's worth, let's see what everyone has to say.

who wants to be in charge of IG-88? If I could be an active participant, I would volunteer, but I wouldn't feel right doing so otherwise. I think Michael or Djo would be good candidates, but they might kind of have their hands full with site admin stuffs...

 

I'll toss in my nomination of Grimby. He may not be here long but he could be the head of it for the time being

My .02, I like the groups better as loose coalitions of members within the group who share common interests, I still think we're small enough not to need 5 leaders, most decisions for the groups, which is mostly when and where to meet, can be handled by creating a thread and reaching a consensus.

 

As far as IG-88 goes.

I see that as encompassing flyers, the website, the Yahoo group, icons, graphics etc, and everyone who throws stuff into the mix should be used. Grimby's graphics get the most use now, because he is free to respond to requests, changes, and he makes great stuff, if chronicle gets more involved and submits stuff we'll use that, if JD gets a computer too, when we have more graphic people actively able to make stuff on the fly and modify it, we'll have more votes. Teneniel is doing the bulk of the website now because the way it's setup she has to modify the code, I hope we can get where people can just do their own html and i'll add it to the site. Sara has volunteered her time to manage the Yahoo Group, is working on costume tutorials and the member profiles. My full size flyer and Chunk's/Zoo's postcard both were done quickly to get the word out, anyone should feel free to do new ones.

I'll gather stuff together and continue to push things through as needed, but I sure don't want to be a leader, just a coordinator.

 

That's basically what everyone's talking about. someone that will set everything up and make sure it goes as planned. Just like Tim...he's our leader, but do we really need a leader to be a group of fans? I'm just using your example OB1 So as Tim is our coordinator, you can be our coordinator for the IG-88!! I have no probs doin that for Casino Malastare. I'll see if/when/where we can get together and play some of these games. I think we should do the role playing first because that doesn't involve any spoilers. But after the movie, we need to play the EpII card game!

 

the group leaders wouldn't really be 'leading' the group, per se.....so how about referring to them as representatives of that group instead? it would be nice to have a central contact for each group for prospective members.

and if no one else would like it, i'll take on ig-88. despite the cheesiness of the current banner graphic (the bane of my fan force existence), i do enjoy doing graphics and did go to school for it..... but i was just accepting the nomination.....i'll keep an eye out for what you all decide and set up the new forums with leader info in the next few days.

 

I like the idea of it being a representative, we already have a city rep, now we would have group reps too.

And I'm not thinking that we, per say, need a "leader," just someone who has the knowledge to point newbies & visitors to the site in the right directions. Think of yourselves as Wal-Mart Greeters, "Hey great to have you here, the useless plastic crap is in aisle 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. . . ." You get the picture, right?

 

count me out then I want real power not just to be "A WALMART GREETER" hell I would rather scrub toilets the work the door at walmart.
