I thought I would see if there is interest in a group movie for this and what dates work best for people.
I voted for Friday the twenty whatever so that its not opening weekend. I don't want to have bad seats.
So I must have missed the vote but I guess the Day is Saturday December 22nd. I will update the thread. Now what time?
Roll call if you're going! So we can decide place and time. Linda and Jonathan going And I ate off of the Hobbit menu at Denny's.
Looks like the movie is showing in several different formats: Real 3D, Real 3D (High Frame Rate), and "classic" which means no 3D. The movie times aren't listed for the 22nd yet, but they are for the 20th, which is pretty close. I'm for the regular feature, but will bow to the group's democratic wishes.
So far the only ones showing interest are Linda, and JT soooooooo can we not do it at the Continential then? I was thinking Westminster Promendae or Orchard?
I voted for the Continental because it's got the giant screen. But I'd also vote for the Harkins if that's easier for people. I'm interested in seeing it in the high frame rate since that's all the rage right now. Although not necessarily 3D. If there's a 2D high frame rate version, that's what I vote for.
Alas, I didn't see that as an option. I hear the high frame rate is hard/awkward to watch. Any reviews on it? Whaa? No babysitter that night?
I haven't seen any. I'm just curious what it looks like since it's a new thing, and since films have been shot at 24 fps since the 1920s. Films are supposed to be at 24, but now all of a sudden we've got "high frame rate" 48 fps as an actual "upgrade" and I just want to see it for myself on a quality film before I decide that it's garbage. So many people these days buy their HDTVs and use the 240Hz video smoothing filter to make everything look more "realistic". Well, a film isn't supposed to look "realistic" - that's why they shoot films in 24 fps, not 240 fps. [/rant]
Well it's a 3 hour movie and since we are doing it at continental or harking it will be an 1 1/2 drive for us each way which will be a babysitter for 6 hours not including the other hour or so of waiting in line. . I just don't like to have Someone have to watch the girls for 7-8 hours. Thats a really long day for them. We might try to see it closer to home. You guys have fun though let me know how you like it in the special formats.
Sigh, I'll be at work for the release, guess I'll have to see it in Jan. Anyone wanna go with me then?
