I believe the title to Star Wars: Episode III will be something close to "FALL OF THE JEDI" (as many of you have already speculated)

"Why?" you ask?

If you compare the titles of the original trilogy with the new one, you'll see a slight pattern:

THE PHANTOM MENACE/A NEW HOPE...a vague refernce to ONE particular character.

ATTACK OF THE CLONES/THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK...alluding to an oncoming aggresive movement from a large group.

???? ?? ? ????/RETURN OF THE JEDI...now this is where it gets complicated. Who or what does the title to Episode VI exactly refer to? Luke? Anakin? The Jedi as a whole? At one time I believed that it refered to Luke. But now that I look at the series of all six movies, I now believe that it refers to Anakin. So with that in mind, I think that the the name of third episode in this saga will refer specifically to Anakin. And we all know what happens to him In Episode III.

Therefore, I am almost certain that the title of Episode III will be someting close to "FALL OF THE JEDI"

 

In case no one else came up with these, how about "The Jedi Betrayed" or "The Evil Revealed" or "The Threat of the Sith".

Or, "This Is The End? NOOOO!"

 

It should be something poetic, like...

Episode III: The Fall of Night

...or something like it.

(Actually this was the title of an old Babylon 5 episode, but I have a feeling it would really suit the film.)

Star Wars Episode III: The Mask of Evil

By far my favorite.

 

A) I doubt it will start with the word "The."
We've already had 2 Titles that start like that.

B) I doubt the middle will be "Of The." We've had 2 Titles like that already.

C) The word "A" or "An" might be a good bet for the Episode 3 title.

D) Think about how the Titles mimic each other. A New Hope and The Phantom Menace. Both refer to a specific being or beings. A New Hope being Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. The Phantom Menace referring to Darth Sidious and Darth Maul. The Empire Strikes Back and Attack Of The Clones. Both refer to a violent action. The Empire striking and the Clones attacking.

So how will Episode 3's title end up. Return Of The Jedi. It refers to something that has come back or has prevailed. A seemingly perfect parrallel would include the word Sith. Revenge may also be a good word. But how would it fall together. A Siths Revenge?

Perhaps Lucas already has a title in mind. He has always surprised us with the titles.

KEY WORDS THAT MIGHT PLAY A PART IN THE TITLE.

1) A
2) An
3) Sith
4) Force
5) Revenge
6) Republic
7) Rise Forth

That's might bet of 7 words. Rise Forth is two words but I have a hunch that a combo like that might be used.

 

EPISODE III: VENGEANCE OF THE SITH

It fits the pattern of the other titles by summarizing the plot in just a few words, and doesn't reuse the words JEDI or EMPIRE. It also echoes Darth Maul's "At last we will have revenge" line from TPM. I think that title, or one similar to it, would be extremely cool for the "darkest" movie in the saga. There'll be a lot of crying kids come May 2005...

 

How about EPIII: Dark Age of the Jedi or Dark Age of the Republic?

Descent to the Dark Times
End of the Old Republic
Attack of the Cylons
The Emperor's New Clones

Seriously, it would have to make EPIV's A New Hope exciting. The Old Republic was about Democracy and AOTC hinted that a Communistic dictatorship would be more effective like a Big Brother is Watching You thing.

 

Episode III: The Man in the Iron Mask

The title should express the central theme of the episode, sum up its resolution, and maintain continuity with the rest of the saga. If we follow that guideline, not only may we have a better chance at guessing what the title will be, but more imporantly we'll better appreciate whatever title GL creates.

 

"Star Wars Episode Three: How Vader Got his Groove.
Then Killed the Jedi."

 

You have to figure the title will fit the ending of the movie (or the scope of the movie) the way the others have.

So... what do we know about Episode 3? Well, Vader is born. The Empire is born. The Jedi are killed off. The Clone War ends. The twins are born.

So the title could be:

Episode 3: Darth Vader, The Evil Empire, The Clone War Ends, The End of the Jedi, The Emperor Revealed, An Empire Revealed, Birth of A New Hope, The Republic Ends...

etc etc etc
