Guess the Episode III title!

You could be on to somehing there with title from Young Indi.

 

It will either have something to do with Anakin (or the Jedi's) fall, or Leia and Luke's birth. I wish he would somehow incorporate Anakin and Padme's ever-lasting love into the title...

Dark Apprentice is a book title. A lot of EU fans would be really alienated if Lucas overlooked that. (me included) So i doubt he will. Same with Dark Empire.

Episode III-Revenge of the Sith

 

I think based on Lucas' family oriented attitude and the fact that the movie will be rated PG, words like "Revenge", "Death",
and "Evil" can be counted out for the title.

Personally I like FALL OF THE JEDI the best.
It encorporates the demise of Anakin Skywalker and the destruction of the Jedi order all in one. Lucas needs a title like this after ATTACK OF THE CLONES. Although it's a cool sounding title, it's the only title that can't be used to describe both the story of the Skywalker family and that
of the Republic.

THE PHANTOM MENACE -- eludes to an evil doer
who is all controlling and lurking from the outside somewhere. This could mean Sidious or Vader.

A NEW HOPE -- for who? The Republic or the Skywalker family? Could be either.

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK -- closest to AOTC type of title, however, this title still can be preceived as the Empire attacking the Rebels or the Dark Side's grip on Vader will make for certain suffering of the Skywalkers.

RETURN OF THE JEDI -- This one's easy. The last of the Jedi emerge to be victorious over the darkside or the good of Anakin Skywalker emerging from within his twisted mechanics (the Jedi is showing through again).


BUT...............................


ATTACK OF THE CLONES is just too plain. It's
too static. Not multi-layered. Has nothing to do with the Skywalkers or the Jedi. It's soley about the war between the Republic and the Seperatists (and others unknown).

I'm not sure how to word it but it would be cool if it tied into that.

 

"Rise of the Sith" isn't a bad name at all for ep. III but it seems more than likely that its going to be "The Clone Wars", which i really dont care for, cause "Clone" would be getting overused (aotc), and also its not really thoughtfully entertaining..."OOHHH, The Clone Wars", how cool (yeah right). "Rise of the Sith" gets my vote for Ep. III from a fans point of view, but we'll all just have to wait and see what Lucas comes up with.

 

A LAST HOPE- that will lead to ANH for EpIV
I also like Fall from Grace maybe Enter the Sith

 

One problem I have with a lot of the suggested titles is that they are repeating the "Blank of the Blank" formula that was employed for Episode II (ATTACK of the CLONES) and Episode VI (RETURN of the JEDI).

I doubt Lucas will go to that title pattern again, as it would be overusing the word order.

Secondly, there has never been a repeat word in any of the Star Wars titles (excluding common words like THE, A, AN, OF). I think that excludes another title containing the words "Return" and "Jedi", two common title words for Episode III.

Thirdly, titles are never spoekn in the movies. Never at any point do characters say the title of a future or past movie (Bond movies are really big on this, "Well, you know they say You Only Live Twice" or "For some, the World is Not Enough").

That excludes titles like "The Shroud of Darkness", "The Clone Wars", and (a personal favorite of mine) "The Agent of Evil"

Fourthly, I have a gut feeling that this title is going to be in the same line of thought as "The Empire Strikes Back" (the most 'different' and 'episodic' of the title names). Star Wars is based on the Saturday Matinee serial tradition, and I think that will be most evident in E3.

Therefore, I give a few new suggestions:

EPISODE III: "The Dark Lord Triumphs"
EPISODE III: "A Matter of Destiny"
EPISODE III: "The Dark Revolution"
EPISODE III: "Revenge of One Thousand Generations"

 

I like these two:

The Power of the Dark Side

The Path to the Dark Side

 

In all of the OT references to the birth of the Empire, the term "A New Order" is mentioned. I think that it would be a plausible title because ..

1. It counter-balances "A New Hope"
2. It sounds like the title of a boy-band
hundreds of posts in the spoiler forum
on how its really linked to N-sync
secret role in AOTC
3. It will enable all of those well-informed
movie critics to come up with witty
titles for all of their neg reviews
of episode III (eg "NO order"..etc,)
4. Ewan McGregor, to continue a fine
tradition, is GUARANTEED to hate it

 

I think Fall of the Jedi has a nice ring to it and it was the first one to come to mind.

Episode III The Power of the Dark Side (actually quite like that one to, sounds ominous)
Episode III The Republic Falls
Episode III The Rise of the Empire
Episode III A Galaxy in Chains
Episode III Lucas comes up with a cheesy title no one else would have picked in a million years

 

I say there will be some dark reference to the Empire. And perhaps, treason ... Treson is a very strong point: Anakin betrays the Jedi Order, betrays Padmé, betrays Obi-Wan and above all, betrays himself. Palp also betrays a bunch of people and the Republic he "loved". Who knows...

EP III: Dark Betrayal

EP III: Dark Treason
EP III: The Treason
EP III: Dark Revolution (not mine, sounds good, but reminds Matrix Revolutions, and the fact is, the revolution is already on going in EP II)



One last thing! In SW, the title never reveal what happens later in the movies (except in AOTC, lousy tittle, me thinks). I mean, the title cannot give any lead to what's going to happen. In ROTJ, e knew Luke had become a Jedi Knight, but the title revealed nothing about the rest of the movie. As in ANH, or ESB.

both are talking about Anakin to mirror ROTJ.

"Of The" will not be in the title yet so many of you have it in your choices. Like deltajedi said, key words will not appear twice. Plus the title will not have been spoken in any of the films.

PLUS REMEMBER,

GEORGE LUCAS WILL NEVER USE REVENGE OF THE SITH OR FALL OF THE JEDI. Why? Because everyone for some strange reason expects that to be the title. If he went with your title, people would accuse him of being unoriginal.




P.S Lucas will not use the title Mask of Evil for a few reasons but for one main reason! He already entitled something with exactly that name. Indiana Jones and the Masks of Evil. Now I know his prequel titles have used words from hisa chronicles but using the excat title would be unproper and ridiculous.

ep3: the lost prophecy
ep3: *something* rebellion
ep3: the dark times (ok im getting desperate now!)
ep3: the jedis demise (too specific)
ep3: force of uncertainty
ep3: fall of a prophecy

 

I'm with Qui-Gon Jinn on this one:

"Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith"

This works best, I think, because you obviously have the series coming full circle (with ROTJ), the word "revenge" not only conjures up old serial b-movies that GL loves to tip his hat to, but fulfills Darth Maul's "at last we will have revenge" statement from TPM.

Of course, I know I'll be wrong, but...
