That I knew the details - age etc - should indicate the story was in fact nation-wide. I live in Sydney; TryWhistlingDebonaire is in Melbourne.

Nice guy too. The reports that he had a heart of gold are no exaggeration, he truly did. But, I think that's what may have cost him in the end, he just never knew when to say "no".

Well, it seems like a sensible option, but I was hoping to vote for you and have this sort of thing taken care of.

i mean when someone is shown a figure of 33,000 gun fatalities in a year and their response is "not a compelling argument to ban guns", then yeah pretty much.

i'm destined to disappoint you then, my friend (i am built for it, in fact). i don't want to kill people that like gruns. they are just nerds that obsess over gruns instead of star wars or fantasy foofball or animes. in my view anyway.

You have some good poop-related policies, so I pretty much trust you with everything else.

Or even 'control guns' or 'limit access to guns in any meaningful way'.

I also knew exactly what murder was being described (and I'm in Adelaide).

Also, it means that a single gun murder is headline news across the entire country.

if tom were to run on a platform of mass genociding gun lovers/owners/tolerators/possessors of a tiny sliver of a positive sentiment towards, i would probably vote for him even though i wouldn't want him to genocide gun lovers/owners/tolerators/possessors of a tiny sliver of a positive sentiment towards.

This is what really doesn't make sense to me.

I say, as a gun owner, you're basically culpable as a bystander for every mass shooting.

Gun owners get fidgety and "yeah right buddy, how do you figure?"

I explain that by not agitating for change, not support reforms and by putting THEIR personal right to own a gun ahead of the rights of those innocent victims to Life, they are giving rise to the conditions for future massacres to occur.

Now those changes only occur when people are willing to:

    a) Accept guns are a major contributing factor;
    b) Americans are too permissive of guns, having lost respect for their deadly capacity
    c) Americans feel the need to feel safe despite any extant threats
    d) Americans do not need guns, but want them

After people accept these, they're less willing to fight efforts to curb proliferation. If they're not, then their de facto position is "My right to own a gun supersedes all other rights you or others may have. Me > you and all others."

If you resist gun control, then you allow massacres to happen. It's that simple.

the implications of this are astounding - i can ratchet up my lifetime murder count wildly by simply resisting gun control! is it retroactive, do you think?

Other countries need significant gun regulation. I'm reading about forty-eight people being murdered in a Latin American country. I'm extremely upset about it, due to the type of people who were targeted.

Some media sources highlight gun violence out of a genuine desire for legal reform. Other sources do it to get ratings. My personal frustration is that that all the racism and all the gun violence in the U.S. hasn't promoted a strong response. I wish we had human rights laws to protect people from hate crimes based on race, gender, orientation, etc. I definitely wish we had stricter gun laws. If we had the same kind as countries where guns are very few and far between to the point at which I almost never see a gun, then I'm fine with that. My friends and I would feel safer. It's like one of our members on here said when she went to a mall and later learned there was a shooting there. We know that life is precious, but the toxic mix of problems in this country make people want to change things.

    lol

Seriously I can't take any of your posts seriously Satele. They parody themselves.

"I read about people being killed. It makes me sad. Sometimes the media wants genuine reform. Othertimes they just want ratings. So tragic."

It's as if beezel learned how to construct sentences.
