i think he's talking about the "right to die" movement, which is more about letting people who have a terminal illness die without being kept alive by elaborate machines or the legality of assisted suicide for terminally ill people in extreme pain. i would hope that no one wants to make it easier for otherwise healthy people who are struggling with mental illness or a momentary crisis to kill themselves.

People on the liberal left are generally in favour of regulating harmful stuff, and replacing arbitrary/authoritarian traditional rules with secular liberty. Being in favour of a regulated legal process of euthanasia is not being pro-suicide, and claiming otherwise is not as funny or subversive as you think, Darth Basin.

 

I'm not 'left' but assisted suicide is generally a decision taken after long discussion and thorough assessment. Y'know, the kind of process someone should have to go through before being allowed to own a firearm.

People use guns in the act of suicide. And as Jedi Merkurian pointed out if you make suicide "less easy & quick" people are less like to carry the act out.
