The Beretta 9000s? That model was pretty much a flop.

As a bit of trivia, one of the first production models of the 9000s was supplied by Beretta and used by Tom Cruise's character in the movie Minority Report, because it was supposed to be an example of futuristic styling. Since the movie sucked, the product placement probably ended up going against it. Maybe the Brits still regard the film as one of their favorites?

 

Like everything else, every country does the world over - you export the crap stuff.

Every time this thread get upped after a short while of dormancy my first thought is


"Oh god, What's happened now"

 

Reading the article it seems like the woman thought she was protecting her daughter. Pulling the gun wasn't the smartest idea ever (understatement, I know), but it reads to me like a knee - jerk reaction to seeing her daughter being assaulted by the other two women.

 

It's a pretty sad state of affairs in the US that people were pulling each other's hair over a note book.

The Chicago Tribune reports that there has been a high school shooting in Mattoon, Illinois which is, lets face it, probably the only way that Mattoon, Illinois, was ever going to get mentioned in the Chicago Tribune.

I was thinking maybe for Halloween trick-or-treating this year I'd just put out a big bowl of guns.

Edit: It's the Mandalay Bay.

 

Update: 20 people killed, 100 people injured. Gunman with an automatic weapon apparently fired into an outdoor concert from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay.

 

It's not at automatic weapon etc... mumble mumble if only more if them in there had been armed and so on and so forth.



Maybe now it's hit at somewhere financially important someone may do something about it.

Oh look, another day and another mass shooting in America...

 

If people start saying "Now's not the time to politicise this tragedy by discussing gun control" I'm going to scream. They're just afraid that senseless deaths will be too fresh in people's minds and that it'll be too difficult to win them over with abstract sophistry when the tangible effects of gun violence are there for all to see.

 

Prayers for the victims and their families.

From the audio of the videos I've seen this was, actually, a fully automatic weapon. IF it was a legally owned one it will be the third such crime to take place since the 1934 National Firearms Act began regulating them, one of which was a police officer using a department weapon. My best guess, and the more likely occurrence, is either a stolen police weapon, or an illegally converted/constructed one.
And no, returning fire at that distance with a handgun would be wildly irresponsible and ineffective, so this is a shooting where concealed weapons in the group of victims would not have made one iota of difference.

 

People, stop politicizing this tragedy!!!!

And by "politicizing", I mean "having a functional brain."

 

Praying isn't going to stop this. It is an extremely callus thing to say, when people are laying dead on the street.
