Sooo . . . is killing cops okay or not? If they're agents of an "oppressive government" it's cool then? Not sure how that's any better than killing "random people." Cops bleed as red as any of us.

Also, let's say that you really believe pressure cookers are "just as dangerous" as guns. That means you should be fine with replacing all your guns with pressure cookers, right? 'Cause they're exactly the same?

TFW Mom won't let you play anymore Call of Duty, so you join a Star Wars message board to talk about guns.

Oh, nevermind . . . @kugelblitz , we have a fundamental disconnect regarding moral values. You think that your right to have guns is worth a pile of kids' corpses. I don't. I'm not sure why you registered here . . . you're not going to convince any of us any more than we're going to convince you.

But at least he's opened the door such that we can have a frank discussion about an underappreciated factor behind gun ownership: violent power fantasies, often with a rather political flavor.

Tell us more how about angry gun owners will shoot judges and politicians and cops and their supporters, kugelblitz. At what point do you think your rights are violated to a degree that murder is acceptable? Background checks? Additional taxation of firearms and ammunition? Mandatory annual licensing? Banning of certain accessories? Banning certain classes of firearm?

(Edit: I also call Poe's Law here...)

Then why do gun advocates need to own so many guns if people have cooking utensils readily available that do just as much damage?

Jeff Jarrett's going into the WWE HOF. It's definitely going to be one of those days.

To keep on - topic, there's a mass lie - in taking place across the street from the White House.

Because everyone knows that AR-15s are effective at protecting you and your family from IEDs and spatulas.

You're wrong. It is like Call of Duty, a single man can take on an ENTIRE army and win.

Well, they'll have a choice. Hand over guns as the law requires like law abiding citizens, or don't and break the law.

    Decide.

I'm assuming by "compromised", you mean they're secret agents and their cover has been blown.

Also their choice. They'd have to decide.

There's already blood in the streets, schools, churches, etc.

    If that is their choice...

Perhaps we should put them to the test. In the end, it may be worth it, either way.

It is they who will be deciding to make a fight out of it. They can choose not to.

Cops are nervous all the time and will shoot at the sound of a hiccup. If you even think the word "gun", they'll shoot you. (not sure why you haven't risen up to protect yourselves against this government tyranny already)

Maybe disarming the populace (and eventually disarming the police to an extent, too) will calm them down, and maybe having a gun being illegal will make it clear who the "bad guys" are, or at least make it a lot more clear who the law abiding citizens are.

Well, if gun owners start going after people like this for political goals, I guess that makes them terrorists, doesn't it? I guess the rest of us will have to treat them as terrorists.

I guess we'll have another problem on our hands, won't we? It's up to gun owners to decide if they want to escalate things into a civil war.

I can turn the questions right back around on gun owners. Is hanging on to your gun worth murdering cops, politicians, judges and anyone else in your way? I know which questions I'd rather be asked, I know which side I'd rather be on.

We know what will happen if we continue to do nothing. The consequences of doing nothing are clear.
How many dead children are your guns worth?

The Second Amendment is nothing more than words on a paper, btw.

LOL, no you haven't. You haven't given in anything.

This isn't for "political expediency", it's about a social epidemic.

Is your selfish crusade worth risking everyone else's neck? Are you content to let children die just to cling to your guns? Are you too afraid to give them up?

This cannot continue, there must be a change, even our children are demanding it of us. We're the adults and we've failed to protect them, we've failed to even try. I think there's going to be a change eventually, and gun owners will have to decide to go with the change or destroy the country.

Decide. Look at what's going on around you, and decide. We may have to make you decide, but I'd rather you would just make the choice on your own. Maybe eventually enough of you will see it for yourselves, but I doubt it.

those are all good policies. i was aware of most of them.

but i think something should be done about AR-15s. you know, the one that was used at the Sashington Navy Yard, Sandy Hook, Orlando, San Bernardino, Sutherland Springs, Las Vegas, and most recently, Stoneman Douglas High School shootings.

Hef, you posted a link to an opinion piece with no commentary of your own. That's terrible posting, and doesn't count as compelling or evidence based. No wonder almost no one replied to you. As for the opinion piece's argument, it's just a restatement of the "but current gun laws are restrictive enough!!!" chestnut. If they were restrictive enough, we wouldn't be seeing a school shooting a week.

If preventing these school shootings was as easy as giving up my pressure cooker, I would gladly give up my pressure cooker.
