The tyranny of the non-gun owners continues. You would think that in Mexico of all places that having a gun would mean that people respect you - but some gunless guy just grabbed the gun-wielding robber! Good Guys With a Gun can't get a break if these Good Guys Without Guns keep doing stuff like this.

 

I'm already telling her the USA is the Great Satan, and as such she won't fall into this trap. It'll more likely be a Momentum member.

It was a joke. The person being "threatened" was also in on the joke. No one was threatened. That kid was such a good actor that these guys think he was being bullied by a guy with a gun!

Regarding gun control I think its really messed up the government would allow this much blood shed in the name of 'freedom' or whatever. That is ****ed, who are these losers who need these ridicules killing machines simply cause it once was their forefathers rights or some ****. Live in the now.

it's true that we're on a huge sidetrack here, but i find this interesting. i guess maybe i don't feel this way because i've met 40 or so jcers in person and would love to meet more. so i think of it more like talking to friends than "virtual people". i wonder if you met some of us in real life if you'd be less likely to think of yourself as the only one with the "facts", and the rest of us as aliens incapable of grasping those blaringly obvious truths. it feels like you are so uncomfortable with your worldview being challenged that the possibility of compromise is virtually non-existent. i wonder if that would change with some face-to-face conversations and the realization that we are not just "virtual" people.

as for the joke, it probably is being overblown. it would probably be better to just ignore this idiot. but it's still pretty tasteless and unfunny in the wake of so much tragic loss of life due to gun violence. i feel like as a gun apologist, you're bound to see it as "no big deal", but i wonder if you'd feel the same about somebody joking about a bomb or flying an airplane into a building.

Many of you are more than "virtual" to me.

 

I haven't met a single person from this site and I absolutely feel your humanity. I consider you guys actual friends. Well, some of you are more acquaintances of course, because there's just so many people in the community, but a lot of you guys are friends to me and I hope at least some of you feel the same way about me.

Though I have always suspected that beezel was several squirrels inside a skin suit.

 

Being blue collar in AZ, there aren't a lot of liberals in my circle. But those who are in my life, I have lengthy conversations with! Keir, an African-American guy 2 years younger than I, comes around about twice a week. We usually gather a crowd by the time we are done. But that's at work so we have to be careful about not getting into trouble.

It's awesome because we trust each other enough that we don't get side tracked with the "racist, sexist, homophobe" name calling that sometime trips us up here. He's super smart and super informed.

Typically I don't find it fun to talk politics with someone who agrees with me.

My wife's family is very left-wing. Many of them are teachers and went to the march yesterday. I can't discuss politics with them because they are a little...uptight.
