This is my favorite scene in Episode II. Immediately after Padme is knocked out of the ship Obi-Wan and Anakin have a powerful moment. I was wondering if anyone else enjoyed this scene as much as I did. Although Hayden's performance throughout the movie was sometimes wooden and inconsistent, I felt that this was one of his best moments (probably short of the Tusken Raider scene). On the contrary, I feel that Ewan McGregor's performance in the PT has been outstanding. But, I digress. This moment on the Republic Gunship is my favorite in AOTC because I think that their interaction throughout this scene is great and some real emotion is conveyed against a spectacular backdrop.

    Any thoughts?

I never noticed how good that scene was until I read about it on the JC; however, I love Hayden as Anakin. From the second we see him on the elevator with Obi-Wan, I was totally sucked in.

Incidently, I think anything involving a Republic Gunship is cool. Jar Jar and Viceroy Gunray could go all "hardcore" on a Republic Gunship, and I would think it was cool.

i agree on u about hayden,(apart from my grudge against him for having kissed padme) his acting was very awkward almost throughout the move save those which requires more definitive feelings like anger and aggression.
Hopefully anakin will be angry all the time in ep III. hehe

This was a fabulous little interaction that I wish I could wish we got more of. Hard to believe it was unscripted.

I absolutely LOVE this scene. The interplay between Anakin and Obi-Wan is fantastic! To me it reaffirms my faith in GL's filmmaking abilities to know that this scene was added once the first cut was assembled.

Agreed. It was great, but then again the whole movie was IMO. :)

It just shows that sometimes unscripted moments can be better than anything planned. Sometimes.

This one worked. I don't like the fact that they're flying over sand dunes on Geonosis, but that's another point.

The interaction between the two characters is great.

I just think that part of Geonosis was too much like Tatooine. I like each SW environment to stand out.

    Tatooine: sand dunes/desert

    Geonosis: red rock

Well red rock would have been very bad for Padme... ;)

Maybe Anakin could've used the force to lessen her impact?

I just like distinct worlds in SW.

I love Yoda's reaction as he senses the conflict within Anakin. It showcases my favorite GL storytelling technique, subtlety.

"Maybe Anakin could've used the force to lessen her impact?"

It seems that even a Jedi needs some seconds to focus on a person or object, he/she wants to lift, see Yoda at the end of his fight with Dooku.

So this wouldn't have worked, because it happened very fast, and Anakin could not concentrate on her.

Have you ever been in a desert?

Sand in the desert is very different from sand on the beach etc. It is soft, and you can really jump into it (from a camel - I tried :p ) without beeing hurt :)

I don't like sand. It's rough, it's irritating and it gets everywhere...

Agreed, the follow up with Yoda sensing Anakin's conflict is terrific as well.
