The company Luxxotica is slowly getting their market share from Costco and Target and online. But in a few years with the right place and right advertising you will find more players eagerly waiting eat at their share. All the while they will continue to sell overpriced stuff. But soon you may find the fashion houses making deals with the lesser guys to sell more at cheaper prices.

Not my point though. As good as a watch is, there's also pricing for the brand factored in. As precise as a Vacheron Constatin is, it's also a Vacheron Constatin if you get my drift. And I doubt the Tag Monaco V4 is actually worth $80,000 of materials either.

Nor mine, but in my financial bracket, for $300, I'd want Tom Cruise' glasses out of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, feeding video footage back to a nearby laptop in an IMF surveillance van.

Yes, I know my expectations are unrealistic; I can't expect the shelling out of three Benjamins to get me field agent status in a fictional US government agency, but c'mon, three hundred dollars!

Also, in addition to the above, he's got the window seat and so he has to keep getting up to go past you to the toilet. Plus he has nooooo concept of personal space.

I press the button to summon the flight attendant. She comes over and asks, very politely, "How can I help you?" "I'll take a double scotch," I say, "and by the way, this man keeps saying something about a bomb."

I carry a $1000 Louis Vuitton messenger bag. $300 for sunglasses is not that extreme, provided you really like them and still want them after about a week. I don't have kids, so I can have nice things.

i did consider buying a pair of wayfarer ray bans for like £130, but then i realised basically everyone has wayfarer ray bans or fake wayfarer ray bans and i realised what is the point? what is the point.

I still have the Wayfarers I bought in 1990 or so (when they were made by Bausch and Lomb) kept them in the car for years as emergency driving glasses, knowing sooner or later they'd make a comeback.

And back then they only cost about $40.
