ST Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma) in Episode IX

True enough. If she does return I hope she is scarred though.

 

The Phasma novel does state that her face is pretty messed up, but yeah, if she survived, her left eye should be toast, at least.

 

I just realized how painful that would be.

 

I would not hate it if they brought her back. However, I'd prefer they just left her as dead. Finn beating her again would be redundant and actually just make Phasma look worse than if she just died here. If she comes back again, and Finn beats her again, she becomes a gag. There's a difference between making one character looking good by having them beat another (and beating Phasma did make Finn look good) and making one character into a laughingstock just to continue making the other look good.

 

Phasma only looks good because of her armor.

 

It's funny you mention that because I headcanon that her face is covered in scars. It would be kinda silly if it wasn't, given her kill or be killed upbringing on Parnassos, you know?

 

Wouldn't blame you. Although, to be honest, I never really gave a thought to what she looked like under the armor until they were showing publicity pics of Christie wearing the costume sans helmet.

 

Who cares, honestly? But then again the only obstacle they can come up with for Finn seems to be this pointless character, so she'll probably be back to fight him again. Finn's arc in IX can be that he's given a third chance to not run away by being lectured by another girl and then defeat Phasma again. Two amazing characters.

If the 2nd Act of Episode IX kicks off with Finn and BB-8 going off to meet up with Maz, and then Poe Rey and Rose evading FO forces across the galaxy, I think we'll know where it's going. And then I'll have to decide if I'm gonna stay in the theatre or not lol

She's gorgeous. I loved the VF shots of her in costume without the helmet and holding that crazy spear. She looks very regal in those shots. As a lesbian, she's (and Phasma) kinda become my second favorite girl crush lol.

Oddly enough though, I didn't know she was also in Game of Thrones. I've heard of the show (how could you not? It's everywhere lol) but I've never actually watched it before.

People said Darth Maul was dead, but he stayed around long after being cut in half.

 

True, but that was a after-the-fact retcon. Until TCW brought him back, Maul was dead and the franchise was written as such.

 

Oh I know I just now do not believe someone is dead until the Director tells us so.

 

And considering what Lucas told us about Luke's parentage in ANH, not even then.

Her origin story came out in novel form.

She had a comic mini series on how she escaped Starkiller.

She's had an actual onscreen fight.

Like Snoke, she done. There's no plot reason to bring her back.

 

Not a chance. Why would they bring her back to kill a protagonist that already beat her? More importantly, why would they kill Finn? It’s pretty clear that they want Finn and Rey to stick around as the new franchise faces. I hate to break it you guys, but she is not a popular character. She is just a Stormtrooper with silver armor that got Game of Thrones fans excited. If the writers had plans for her to be a meaningful character then they would have given her meaningful scenes. But they didn’t.

Her armor can withstand a blaster so it can withstand fire? Well what if it’s plasma fire, or electric fire? Can her armor stop that too? This is just dumb. She’s dead.

 

They may bring her back in the expanded universe as a cyborg foe or something. Like they did Maul.

But as far as the movies go, she's dead.

 

Well, at least we know her origin.
