ST Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma) in Episode VII

Is that a laser sword on her on her right thigh? Nothing like that on her left thigh. First guess was it's a blaster, but looking closer at the pic and the Ralph artwork I think it's a saber.

 

It's a blaster; the same sidearm is on the side of the regular stormtrooper armor, too.

After thinking how cool Phasma looks, all I could think of when I saw the VF picture was "Uh oh! Better get Sith Apprentice Maaco..."

I am one of those very people who has not read / watched GoT. So I have to go with my advertising soaked brain.

 

Oh I would love this!

 

I say we give Phasma, Stormtrooper Podrick, and Kylo a spin off. Kylo can serve the Jaime Lannister role, and the whole movie can just be these 3 causing badass mischief around the galaxy and being adorable at the same time. MAKE IT HAPPEN!

We need to forgive Howard Hand. He must not watch Game of Thrones. That is Podrick, Gwendoline Christie's squire in GoT. Claire must just be really skillful at Photoshop.

 

Nah, I watch Game of Thrones. I just have trouble remembering his character.

 

Darth Claire, What's wrong with Boob Armor? Note the high heeled boots, too.

 

Aha! Is that why Rey was code named Snow Girl? Perhaps we don't want to know what Luke and Leia have been getting up to since ROTJ.

 

Boob armor is so much better than armor that actually doesn't protect the chest at all and is completely impractically designed just to look sexy.

The exposed stomach is pushing it a bit, though.

I wonder if she will have a more grizzled look like Brienne or if she will actually look fairly "beautiful" underneath. Gwen is so stunning without all that make up to make her look a little more unattractive, manly and dirty.

 

I say we put Darth Claire in charge of the story treatments for all the spin offs. Come on, Kathy. Make it happen!

 

Since I have nothing better to do (other than pack for my Disney trip tommorow) I have decided that this shall be my mental theme for Captain Phasma till we hear her official one

As opposed to Boba Fett? Star Wars is famous for slightly silly names. It's part of it's charm.

 

actually i was just thinking it sounds like a 50's sci fi name. She seems like the ST's Boba Fett. Wonder if the fans will take to her like that.

 

agreed...Star Wars is a B movie, the best and most successful ever Capt Phasma is perfect and hope she gets more screen time than Boba Fett did

 

Disagreed. Star Wars draws from B movie tropes, but it has a visual, narrative and thematic sophistication that elevates it well into the A movie camp.

 

of course, all those things elevate it but its still Saturday morning Matinee at heart and B movies like Flash Gordon were an inspiration. Remember my dad saying when we went to see it in 1977 when I was 5...its just like cowboys and Indians in space...by the time ESB came out it was LOTR in space. Capt Phasma is a great name and a great look.
