Are they ever going to explain exactly how Phasma got out of the garbage compactor and the SKB planet? Perhaps in the Phasma comic?

 

Yes. The comic will bridge the gap in Phasma's story between TFA and TLJ, she also has a novel coming that explores her pre-TFA backstory.

 

She used 3PO's red arm to escape.

I dig Phasma and all, but she isn't exactly what excites me about this new trilogy.

However, outside of Kylo's outfit in TFA, I think her look (especially in what we've seen now in TLJ) is the most badass costume we've seen in Star Wars in a long time. It is seriously awesome.

 

Possibly the most badass costume in 8 movies. Which is why it was such a shame.

 

What do you think they actually did with her?

May she get more character development in the movie.

 

I doubt she'll get much development in the actual movie, which is why she has her own novel and comic series coming out.

 

These new characters need more development in the movies. Flesh out little details and more background in other media. We got to know the OT characters core personalities in the first film, and they quietly built upon those in the subsequent movies. Novels and comics came later.

As someone who sticking with movies only at this point (and probably going beyond VIII), I'd like some characterization in the films too. Enough to pull me into their journeys.

 

I don't mind for new interesting characters fleshed out in other media, but Phasma was boring in TFA. I see problems making her more interesting now.

 

Depends on the character. Plenty of side characters in the OT didn't get developed on screen (Boba Fett, for example.) The films need to focus on the important ones, otherwise they will get over-stuffed. I would like to see Phasma do a bit more, but I don't think we need much (if any) backstory on her.
