Totally thought that was either CGI or stunt work in the show. Awesome.

I think a few folks haven't quite figured out that this is Maisie Williams (with a bloody amazing dagger shift between hands) fighting Gwendoline here for Game of Thrones.

 

Oh my gosh! I didn't even notice the HBO marker until now. I thought it was from TLJ.

 

The 'reliable' rumour guy on reddit (I think?) said that something worse happens to Phasma after having her arm lopped off. Can only think that means she won't be in IX somehow.

As for the Finn fight, I totally believe this is going to happen. Finn is tied up as he is about to be executed when 'something' happens which can only be Rose's doing. Finn gets free from his binders and possibly uses a riot baton against Phasma. Phasma holds him off with her spear (made of the same material as her armour) until Finn picks up the Axe which slices through her spear. The penny drops, he now has the upper hand and he slices off her arm.

 

That is very specific. If it goes down like that, Phasma is done for these movies.

do we know that the source that said phasma will get her arm chopped off is reliable?

 

I think it was Bothan-Spy who started that rumor.

 

And I believe he has been pretty much spot on with his other stuff.

 

Not a coward this time. Those resistance soldiers should get tossed.

 

How BAD ASS is Gwendoline? Seriously looking forward to this confrontation!

 

Feeling really psyched about Phasma in The Last Jedi. Everything seems to indicate she is much busier this time around and the duel with Finn looks amazing.

 

Seeing a tease of a Finn vs Phasma standoff was one of the most exciting things about the new trailer for me, oddly enough. Even the environment looks awesome!

It's almost like they heard all the fans' complaints about Phasma's weak role in TFA and how it should've been her Finn faced off with on Takodana, and basically said "we'll see your wasted opportunity gripes, and RAISE you an epic faceoff!!!!"

 

I just hope Phasma's role isn't solely there to fight Finn and disappear/die, they need to build her up more as a strong opponent before facing Finn. Show people how she's earned her rank and reputation.

 

There's a little bit more, she loses and Kylo chops her arm off as punishment...

 

That's why they've put out the Phasma novel and comic mini series. Since where not going to see any of that buildup in the film.

 

It looks like the electricity from the stun baton is actually conducting on Phasma's armor... interesting.

 

I have never seen so much shining chrome in the galaxy ...

I think that’s the coolest shot in the whole trailer. Also in the Canon book, she is a badass. In the arm thread, a lot of people were saying it was her and she’s going to die. If she’s like she is in the book that will be a mistake. You want to play with her for ix.

 

She is built up in the book.There will be Resistance soldiers manhandled. What else does the First Order have that is remotely interesting in that sub plot? Kylo, will be in his Rey/Luke thing. Hux, was ridiculous so she should have an important role.

 

I guess she could come back in Episode IX with a chrome robotic arm. And then have her be unmasked like Kylo's in this one.

 

As she is in the book, there is no way Finn, we will be able to best her. She could take multiple opponents. Unless something weird, like he was enhanced a lot from the injury. I don’t think that’s the case.
