I saw it last night. It was.. eh not my favorite but not the worse. In my opinion it was the furthest from the source material of the movies released thus far.

FYI I would rank the movies as follows:
Goblet of Fire (this was my favorite book so I may be biased here)
    Order of the Pheonix
    Half-blood Prince
    Chamber of Secrets
    Prisoner of Azhkaban
    Sorceror's Stone

I saw it last night with the wife and the kids. I agree. Alot of the details were left out. It was good, not great.

Went to the midnight showing on Tuesday Night.

I have not read any of the books, so I might have a different vantage point. As the movies go for some reason I really liked Prisoner of Azhkaban and that still remains my favorite. As for Half Blood Prince, I liked it a lot. I thought it had a lot Harry Potter 'porn' (stay with me folks, I'm not getting this banned), in that it was more for Harry Potter Fans rather than for the general audience. It had the least amount of action of any of the movies, and just concentrated on character development. I also liked the quaint 'teen love' stuff as it made me smile. All in all, I thought.. I enjoyed it..

That's the thing. I don't care that there wasn't alot of action. I liked the character development. The problem was, there were too many details left out for a movie that concentrated on character and storyline, and I'm not one of these Potter geeks that scrutinizes everything. So, I don't even care that it wasn't completely faithful to the book.

To be honest the book wasn't action packed either. I guess what really stuck out to me is the two major points of the movie the identity of the half-blood prince and the death of Dumbledore just seemed to fly past as if they were unimportant. Yet I got tons of Ron's girlfriend who in the grand scheme of things means nothing.

I have to admit Ron's girlfriend only reminded me to thank the stars that I didn't marry half the girls in my graduating class..
