That time of year is coming around again. It'll be a first for our newest chapter.

So, is anything happening down here for Halloween?

Party!!!No unathorised parties without Imperial permission [face_devil]

Please fill in request forms in triplicate and apply to your local garrison for proper permission or actions will be taken by the local garrison to close such event!!!

P.S. Have fun but next time Imperial presence will be unavoidable :D

Just another adopted "americanism". Not into it. Whatever happened to not taking stuff from strangers?

Unfortunately my fellow fanforcers I aren't likely to make it this weekend due to work and the g/f being sick :(

The good news is that if I end up staying home there might be a website that gets worked on ;)

I'd just like to remind you all of where Halloween comes from.
the Wickan tradition of All Hallows Eve began thousands of years ago, as a celebration the night before all saints day, during which all evil spirits were kept from the house by the use of talismans and other symbols.

but then, hey, who cares? :D

I'm with E-I on this one, is it really good to be teaching the kids to be taking lollies from strangers? and to wreck someone elses property if they don't get the lollies?
    stupid Americans, stupid Hallmark holidays.

    my opinion only. :D

This was totally organised by the Woodside Army Barrack residents. Residents were asked to participate and if they didn't want to, they were left off the route. We called on about 15 houses in all and all were ready for the kids with sealed sweets and icypoles. Us parents walked with them and it was all kept in the base residents area. only lasted an hour and a bunch of fun was had by all... ;)

I used to think "another Americanism" as well - but hey, here we all are are supporting one of the biggest film franchises the USA has to offer. *shrugs*

But as A-D said, it was all very well organised and in this case in a very close-knit neighbourhood, so the whole stranger thing was not really an issue. There's no reason we can't put an Australian spin in these things anyway. And if you saw how much the kids (big and small :D ) enjoyed it, then its not really worth worrying about.

If we start celebrating Thanksgiving then I'll get really concerned ;)

Actually, I wasn't hosting the party. It was a big outdoor event hosted by my older half-sister, because my Dad's American she was born there and loves Halloween.

I agree DM, not even my Dad practices Thanksgiving anymore. He's an Australian now, and he says that there is no point in celebrating a holiday that sybolises the freedom in America when he lives here. Aussie day's enough for him, and Halloween of course, he always has the best costumes.

I figure it's and excuse for us 'old kids' to put our costumes on, and don't we all love to do that? :D
