That's funny. Legends DOES remind me of Gotham Knights, what with its very different artistic styles and interpretations of Batman.

I think MS and 343 would have been better off handing off that project to an American animation studio. I've never liked manga that much; one of the main reasons being that I find the quirky (and I might even say LAZY) Japanese animation style at odds with what I grew up with (i.e., western/american animation). The other is the annoying Japanese quirks (for example, exaggerated dialogue or expressions and overly-stylized depictions of bodies -- be it male or female) that sometimes make my eyes roll at what I'm seeing onscreen.

EDIT: moosemousse: You CAN complete coop campaign challenges offline, but it's a bit of a pain to do so. First, it's better if you have a buddy at hand that can help you out and a spare controller. Bad news is that the offline coop mode is splitscreen, as in previous games. If you don't have a buddy at hand but do have a spare controller, you may still connect it and the game will create a temporary profile (which I'll refer to as the "dummy" from here on). You can play and leave the dummy in place, but if you get killed at a farther portion of the current map of the level and the dummy is still in the starting position, you'll respawn right next to it and will have to haul ass back to where you got killed, so you have to pickup the second controller and move the dummy so it'll be as close to you as possible or otherwise alternate your playthrough with either your character or the dummy. Just keep playing that way until you finish the mission and any coop challenge will be succesfully completed.

I had thought about the dummy thing, but decided against it in the end.

There are two things that really bug me about Halo Reach. Noble 2's death and Noble 3. Noble 2 was killed by a headshot that went straight through her helmet, somehow bipassing shields and whatever? It just seems like a really stupid way to kill her off. Noble 5 had the whole sacrifice thing, as did Noble 1. Noble 4's death was pretty epic. But Noble 2? And what happened to Noble 3 anyways? The last you see is him going off with that woman. It just seems a little off somehow.

Yeah, Kat's death annoyed me as well because of how sudden it was. But then, things like that DO happen in war. As for how that sniper shot killed her, I think the most obvious explanation is that the radiation flare from the glassing beam momentarily took out her -- or all of Noble's -- shields, allowing for that one needle round to send Kitty-Kat bye-bye.

As for Jun, I guess Carter figured someone SHOULD escort Dr. Halsey back to Castle base, despite her protests to the contrary. As for what happened later, considering that he wasn't there when the Master Chief and the surviving Spartans found Halsey holed up in Castle (during the novel FIRST STRIKE), I suppose it's a given he died amongst the last defenders of the base.

Yeah I imagine a future novel or comic or something will probably cover what happened to that character.

Does anyone use any of the Firefight voices? Are they worth the credits?

I bought the cheapest one, Sgt. Stacker. Any voice is better than the default, because Noble 6 never really says anything in Firefight. The other ones call out phrases every now and then.

I've bought Emile's, Jorge's, Stacker's, Buck's (best one IMO) and 117's. Master Chief's is so not worth the 100K creds. Stephen Downes phoned that one in in worst fashion than in all previous games. But it if you feel the need to sound like the Chief, but really, it's dissapointing. Nathan Fillion simply doesn't dissapoint. I haven't heard Cortana's but supposedly she has some funny lines too.

Is that best done solo or co-op?

Co-op is simply the best way to go because of the Iron skull. At least if you die coop, the game will only reset itself to the last checkpoint. Problem is that with the Blind skull on, you sometimes don't notice when you've gained a checkpoint. And Blind brings up the point as to why I've never attempted LASO: the lack of a gun sight really makes this incredibly painful and unnecessarily difficult. Oh yes, there is a solution to this: simply put a piece of tape over your TV's screen to serve as a makeshift gunsight, but I just don't see that as very practical.

There are a few encounters you can skip or otherwise sprint right by. But there are others were you simply have to tough it out, since the Noble AI simply are no help an the Mythic skull makes the Ultra and Zealot elites ridiculously tough nuts to crack.

Co-op is definitely the way to go. The Iron skull alone basically dictates it. Even if you don't have someone else actually playing, just having a dummy in-game to keep the level from restarting is beyond beneficial. And the Blind skull makes it absolutely BRUTAL. I used a small dot of fun-tac to mark my crosshairs.

And I agree about the Elites. The Zealots at the end take three (THREE) plasma overcharge shots to take out their shields, which is nigh impossible to pull off. Even the normal ones which are upgraded to Ultras on LASO still take two. The beginning encounter outside of the farm (like the Firefight map Overlook) can be completely avoided if you stick as far to the right as possible and jump and run along the cliffs. Dangerous, but worth the trouble.

Ugh, those last 3 elites are a pain in the arse. Took my buddy and I 30 minutes to finally find a good way finish them off, I knew I should have done it with two more friends to have made the challenge a little bit less frustrating.

I retract my previous statement: SLASO (as in SOLO) IS the way to go, since the game ramps up the difficulty if you're playing coop. That's how I pulled it off last night.

    1) On the first encounter (the first building), immediately step out into the open and take the RIGHTMOST path available (over the sheds and down into the path immediately overlooking the waterfall). Keep along that path and keep a low profile and you will avoid most of the encounters including the first bunch of Ultra Elites right before the first set of vehicles, since that path will drop you right behind the trucks and Jorge and Carter will port right alongside you.

    2) On the road, keep to your right at all times and eventually that will lead you to the area where the missing marines are fending off that first wave of Grunts. Carter and Jorge will immediately jump off the truck, but you must stay with the truck and keep a good distance off that area. Whenever you get a chance -- and especially when there are no dropships bombarding the area -- try to ram as many grunts and Ultra Elites as you can. Jorge and Carter may help, but only a little. There's a good chance you may receive plasma overcharges, plasma grenades or meet any other sort of accident that may kill you. But fear not: the moment you die, IMMEDIATELY hit the start button to save and quit your game. If you were fast enough and reload the game, you WILL restart the game at the last checkpoint here and in any other area later on. Keep ramming foes with your truck until the area is cleared and the Falcon lands to pick you up.

    3) Once you're in the comm array, forget about combat. Just head up the stairs on the building to your left, grab the DMR lying on the floor there and the armor lock hidden in the one open door in that balcony, and then go hide inside the area where Kat's working and simply stay out of sight. If you're feeling lucky and think you can take out a grunt or a jackal, go right ahead, but be wary of grenade and concucssion shots (that's why I recommend picking up the armor lock). Otherwise, stay the fartherst away from the door until Kat gives the go ahead and Noble enters the room as the door closes on the hellish scene outside.

    4) Once the cutscene ends and you regain control of your N6, try to have Jorge do most of the heavy work against the grunts and Jackals. Be wary of any enemies closing in on you and of the Zealot that occasionally bombards the area with his concussion rifle. The most important thing here is to TAKE IT SLOW and avoid being in the open. Grab plasma pistols when and whenever you can since it?ll be easier to track shots with it against jackals and grunts (DO NOT ENGAGE THE ELITE). As soon as Jorge starts moving forward the tunnel, keep a good distance from him and try to nail any tango he misses.

    5) Once you enter the final room of the map, keep your distance and continue letting Jorge do the heavy work against the grunts. Use plasma pistols to nail those he misses if you get the chance. Once the grunts are dealt with, it?s time to lure the Elites into the fight. The first one to take out is the sword Zealot. Lure him into the area Jorge is by climbing on the pipes on the wall opposite the room with the lifting/falling computer books. DO NOT STEP INTO THAT ROOM; the moment you do, the door leading from the tunnel into that area will close behind you, closing an area you?re going to need to retreat and/or take out that Elite. Once the sword Zealot is lured, he will most likely run to where Jorge is standing and engage him in a futile sword vs. immortal-AI-chaingun-toting-ally fight. You can do one of two things there: 1) as the Elite hacks away at Jorge, stay out sight on the stairs leading to the data room and pepper the Elite with plasma overcharges or regular shots. Between this and and Jorge?s constant fire, the Elite will fall. Or, (2), if the Zealot has his back directly towards you, try to run up to it and perform and assassination.

    6) Now for the toughest part of this final fight: the Concussion Zealot. Two things can happen he

Not who I would have entrusted the license too, but so long as we are just going to see an upgrade in the graphics engine, the co-op made online compatible and the PC multiplayer ported to consoles then Saber really would have to go out of their way to cock up the remake.

Anyone know when the Halo remake is coming out? A vague idea would be enough, I just want to know when I can start thinking of pre-ordering it. I didn't have an xbox when the original came out and I wasn't interested when the PC version came out.

I don't think anything is concrete yet but I believe it's being released to coincide with Combat Evolved's 10th anniversery.

...That's still just a rumour. It's not impossible, but as of right now nothing is official.

I reached General in Reach the other night! I finally have my security helmet and shoulder, now I can relax a bit and enjoy myself. :p

I'm saving up for the black visor colour and Cortana voice. I can't remember which helmet and armour combo I want though. I have the fire effect though so my head is on fire, which is awesome.

I have a question though: how do I hijack a banshee?

Just like any other vehicle; when you are close to it (I recommend using the jetpack for Banshees) hold the reload/action button (Right Bump for me, but that varies based on controller configuration). If you're looking for the achievment, I recommend the mission Tip of the Spear when you and Jorge start the assault on the spire, you'll be in some rocks by its base and there should be two banshees flying around that will come near you. Not sure exactly, but I suppose you could charge a plasma pistol fully to "stun" one and immobilize it....

You can also go for the achievement in the last part of THE PACKAGE mission (the underground battle). Try to get close to a banshee. Plasma overcharge it and board it just as it hits the ground. You have to be pretty quick on your feet since most AI vehicles quickly recover from the overcharge stun. Also, remember that all 'cheeevos are uncloked when playing on Normal difficulty and higher.

So I just finished replaying the Halo 3 campaign and am left with very, VERY mixed feelings on just everything about Reach. The Halo 3 campaign is simply more epic, whereas that of Reach is just depressive. If Reach was made to depress you into taking meds, it does a good job at that. I sincerely believe that graphic-wise Halo 3 is still the prettier game even though it's running on an already 5 year old graphics engine. The sandbox has better weapons (BR for the win. The BR is a lightsaber compared to the clumsy club the DMR is). I have no idea how you can rationalize the technology gap for both armies between both games since in terms of time, the entire Halo series just spans a few months between the years 2552 and 2553. Perhaps Reach "wins" in the MP side of things since it does feal geared more towards the casual player (everyone can eventually become an Inheritor now with just about enough time and patience to constantly play this game), whereas in Halo 3, it felt at times that it was about skill first, second and third, with fun at the very last.

I don't know, I simply don't feel like popping tne Reach disc on my Xbox anymore. Maybe I'm just burned out on Halo, but maybe I feel like Bungie could've done more with their Halo swansong and didn't.
