    Why they have got so similar names? Padmé, Sabé, Dormé... And Padmé's sister's name is Sola, her mother's name is Jobal and nieces are Ryoo and Pooja. Are these handmaiden-names created for handmaidens, that they sound like Padmé?

    Good question. Somehow I always assumed that Padmé was the birth name, and that she took the royal Amidala name when she was elected queen. It would be a bit much to assume that she had two assumed names... But then, I guess anything can happen in the GFFA.

    I think Padmé is her birth name and Naberrie her real surname. And Amidala is her "public" name. But those handmaidens' names... :)

    Sorry, but what is GFFA?

    I don't think there was any official word on why their names all sound the same.

    It's probably just a common way to name girls on Naboo.

    GFFA=Galaxy far, far away.

    Or Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. ;)

    It is stated somewhere, probably one of those SW info books, that Padme took the name Amidala when she entered politics. The names of the girls are very strange, how can you possibly find girls with the same last syllable in their name who also look alike? I, personally, like to think that they adopted their names when they were chosen as handmaidens.

    I think that is very possible. Padme took a new name when she became queen, the handmaidens took new names when they began to serve the queen.
