The only upside is they haven't given up yet on finding it a new home, even if the odds of that succeeding are now vastly reduced.

At the very least I'd like to see a movie type series finale that ties up the loose ends

    With the

this show has set the controls to the heart of awesome, and has achieved legendary status in the annals of network prime time TV.

Damn you, NBC, for cancelling this show. Damn you to Hell.

I seem to remember Fuller saying something along the lines that he tried to write each season finale as a "satisfying ending" since the show has always been in danger of getting cancelled.

Considering the ends of the previous two season finales, I'm inclined to think that "satisfying ending" is code for a huge cliffhanger...

So it looks as if Fuller has given up on saving the show from what was said at Comic Con. Really unfortunate but I guess inevitable. I still don't see why Netflix and Amazon both passed on it with it's cult following. Fuller did leave a hint about a movie which I always sort of figured might happen...

Personally I would love if they remade or took elements from 'Silence of the Lambs' with Mikkelsen

    Just about covers it.

Also, Richard Armitage is playing Francis Dolarhyde? Perfect.

shame. this one has been on my netflix list just because its a bryan fuller series (ive seen just about everything else that he was involved in at a high level), but i still hadnt gotten around to it because it didnt sound like "my thing", aside from the fact of his involvement. now that its been cancelled i might just skip it (though that's never stopped me with his series in the past)

hallmarks of a brian fuller series:

1.) female protagonist or major character with cute masculine-sounding nickname

    2.) morbid yet whimsical

    3.) early cancellation

I don't think the first one really applies to Hannibal.

while, again, i havent seen the show, im given to understand that he gender-swapped a character from the original Hannibal cycle just so he could have a spunky girl journalist named "freddie" in the cast of characters

    classic fuller

Alana Bloom was also based off of a male character from the books (Alan Bloom).

It didn't have any single scene that squicked me out as much as the Mason Verger eating-his-own-face one, but as an episode, overall I'd have to agree with you. Definitely some serious "yikes" moments. And some great acting too.

This season started off slowly but man the pay off there was well worth it. Easily the best episode of the entire series.

So what did we think of the introduction of the "Great Red Dragon"?

I am interested in seeing what Armitage continues to do with the role. I wonder how sympathetic they will make him. The first episode leaves it pretty gauge. I am interested in seeing how Hannibal ends up influencing him as a 'protege'

This is as straight an adaptation as they've done yet, and it's GREAT

    3. early cancellation

While, assuming it's being cancelled and not picked up, it's being cancelled earlier than Fuller would have wanted/intended, 3 seasons is a very good run for a show like Hannibal

Well. That finale was certainly...a cliffhanger, not to put too fine a point on it.

Not really a fan of the post credits scene, but other than that?

You can see with the post-credits scene that they really are trying to leave things open ended in case the show ever gets uncancelled. I mean, the whole Reichenbach ending could go either way, but yeah, I definitely wasn't expecting that with Bedelia.
