I was out with my Mom this afternoon and went into a Newsagents in Knutsford and they had Easter Eggs on sale already... and even worse... people were BUYING them

What the hell is going on here? it's not even Christmas Day... things are getting really out of hand now... and here was me thinking Christmas in October was stupid

Meh. The mother of one of my workmates has done most of her Christmas shopping for NEXT year. Oh my.

Still, I don't think we've even stocking Easter stuff in Waitrose yet.

 

I'm off to buy a kitchen and a sofa in the boxing day sales.

 

See kitchens, sofas and all I can understand... but Easter, Halloween and such... there is a limit

I know what you mean S_F. I work in a wholesaler warehouse and while I was working, they were clearing away the christmas seasonal confectionary and putting easter eggs out! I mean, I know a wholesalers is a little different from a normal shop but still...Why?

That is perfectly normal. I work in retail and my company always sells Easter Eggs from the first day back after christmas (which is considered the first day of the Easter season) and so sometimes we get them on sale before christmas because there is loads to do on the first day back. A couple of years ago we had them on sale from the 22nd of December, and yes they were selling.

I happen to agree that it is madness but it is those who purchase such products who are to blame. If there is demand for a product you can't blame retailers for satisfying that demand.

I understand the whole supply and demand thing but really... people are becoming more and more obsessed with the commercial aspects of these holidays and it's getting out of hand.

BTW, it's not just Easter Eggs that get sold early. Hot Cross Buns get pushed heavily, and sell well, as soon as XMAS is over.

 

Yeah I know re Hot Cross Buns but I only saw Easter Eggs and went into total shock
