Banner looks good, but can I make one suggestion? Since there is an overload of fairly light colours through the whole scheme, you might want to use something other than white for the background in the "BoardTable" area to help in differentiation.

Edit: And can someone please have another look at the coding for the FF drop-down menu. In the new scheme (viewing with NS) it is woefully set out, with it being all over the place depending on where on the boards you are.

 

It says "Happy Holidays" on the main banner, and the Santa hats are fairly non-denominational. The only religious reference is the "Merry Christmas" on the side, and since Christmas is the predominant holiday of the period, I doubt it is that much of an issue.

Downgrades JC Terror warning from "High" back down to "Meh".

 

Those terror warnings suck. I recommend the use of colours, on a scale of beige to Dagsy, with our current terror level being a nice shade of aqua.

Love the banner! I especially like the 'jester/santa' hat Yoda's got on, and the Death Star ornaments around the ad are adorable! Oh! And I just noticed the snowspeeder dragging the lights...really cute

EDIT: LOL! I just stretched the window and saw the walker with a santa hat...that's great!

I beg to differ. It's Saint Nicholas, just as Saint Peter or Matthew.

I just wanted to point out that it is Christian-centric, and that if I were a Jewish person, I would be pretty offended.

I'd like to point out that Santa Claus/Christmasman/Father Christmas is about as far from the origins of Catholic saints as is possible. A Santa hat in no way shape or form is a religious symbol of any kind.

As far as a mention of something Christmas offending Jews, I know plenty of Jews who are not offended by anything Christian. It's rather silly really. I am not offended when someone wishes me a Happy Hannukah. I rather think it's quite cool. I work for a Muslim boss who is no more offended by images of Christmas than I was when he took the day off to celebrate the last day of Ramadan. People need to calm down and not be offended by every little thing. It's gotten very out of hand.

On THAT note, I would like to compliment the banner designer and everyone who helped put this scheme together. I think it is not only the best winter holiday banner we've ever had but I would go so far as to say it is the best specialized banner and scheme I've ever seen. Really outstanding job everyone!

Since when is Saint Nicholas not a saint? Maybe not one of the major ones, but still a saint.

That wasn't my point. My point was that the only thing in the banner is Christmas, not even a token menorah or Star of David.

Christmas isn't the only major holiday right now.

 

Santa Claus and Saint Nicholas are two different thing.

 

The idea of Santa Claus may have started with St. Nicholas, but by now they're two entirely different things. Santa hats have nothing to do with Christianity. (and as a note, I know a lot of people who celebrate Christmas but aren't Christian).
