    Powdered sugar > Syrup. Though strawberry syrup is quite good too, I have to admit.

    I would have. I even found American-style pancake mix at my local Waitrose (supermarket). But did they have maple syrup? Noooo...

    Can't have one without the other!

    Vermont is known for maple syrup as well. In fact, when I lived in Connecticut my downstairs neighbor tapped some maple trees in the woods behind the two-family house we lived in and boiled the sap down to make syrup. It was delicious!
