    I always assumed this whole May the 4th thing was a more recent invention.

    I think most SW fans will be surprised to know the origins of "May The 4th Be With You" date all the way back to 1979. Margaret Thatcher was elected Prime Minister of Britain on May 4th, 1979, and her party took a full-page newspaper ad in the London Evening News proclaiming, "May the 4th be with you, Maggie. Congratulations."

    I'm surprised anyone made that connection that early in in Star Wars fandom, let alone with it having such a prestigious beginning!

    Kind of surprising that the highest-ups in the British Conservative political party were so geeky in 1979, isn't it?

    I just finished reading Dark Force Rising for the second time. The Thrawn Trilogy is such a great work of literature. I look forward to watching some films now.
