I wasn't sure where to post this exactly, so if this isn't the right spot I am sure the Mods will move it to the right spot if not. Anyway, I just want to wish all of the former Veterans as well as the current Veterans Happy Veterans Day. I am proud that I have many in my family who have served over the years. My Grandfather served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. And my Great Grandfather Served in World War II and was one of many Troops who stormed the Beach at Normandy. So to those here in the JCC who reads this that had members in the Military thank them for me.
Thank you, MS77. My sister invited me to come read "Why We Remember" to her kindergarten class. I think now the kids have a better understanding of what the day means.
Our associate pastor, who's in the Army Reserve, quoted this as part of his sermon last Sunday: It is the Soldier, not the minister Who has given us freedom of religion. It is the Soldier, not the reporter Who has given us freedom of the press. It is the Soldier, not the poet Who has given us freedom of speech. It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer Who has given us freedom to protest. It is the Soldier, not the lawyer Who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the Soldier, not the politician Who has given us the right to vote. It is the Soldier who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag, And whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who allows the protester to burn the flag.
