    Title: A Sort of Rebirth
Summary: Lily Evans has fallen in love and it's not with her best friend. Can he ever forgive her for moving on?
Disclaimer: JK Rowling owns it all. No infringement is intended.
Notes: Lily's feelings up to when she falls in love and marries James. And Severus Snape's reactions to her new life. When things come to you late in the night, and you should really be asleep. Takes place well before TPS. Some what AU.

    Part 1/3

It had been twelve months since they had graduated Hogwarts and went off to University. It had been ten months to the day
that Lily Evans had unexpectedly been reunited with her old school mate and somewhat her boyfriend at a weak point in her
seventh year. It was also eight months to the day that she had fallen deeply and completely in love with the former arrogant boy
whom she had thought she would hate forever. The arrogant boy who had been the biggest bully in all her years at Hogwarts
had grown up into a fine young man with a gentle and kind heart. That kindness had won her over and before she knew it they
    had begun dating again.

Now with the war picking up, things were changing for them. James had decided to join the Order of the Pheonix and was
planning on leaving school soon to commit to the cause full time for Dumbledore. James also said he bought a little house close
to muggle London where he plans to move too. James also hinted that the house had three bedrooms, that it was the perfect
size for say a newly wed couple about to raise a family.

Lily knew what James had been hinting too and had been so tempted to make it that easy for him. She loved James with all of her heart and could easily picture settling down with him in his new house as his wife. But there was something unspoken between her longing to say yes and back into their past to a certain dark young man whom she had loved with all of her heart as well. Lily had loved Sev since the first day he had reached out to her in the play ground when they were both so little.

If only he hadn't allowed the prejudices of his house to decide who his friends were later in life, Lily couldn't help but wonder if he might have felt more than friendship for her one day.

Lily knew it was plain silly to still think of a boy from her youth who had stopped thinking about her with any type of kindness long ago, but she just couldn't stop thinking about what had become of her dear old friend.

James knew that she still felt love toward her old friend and did not dare to mention Severus Snape in a negative light to her
ever again. His hate towards her old friend was what had stopped them from getting together much sooner, and it was what had come between them in their seventh year when they had finally managed to start seeing each other differently.

Lily had been sick with worry over Snape who had decided to join Voldermort and had repeatedly begged her old friend to come to his senses before it was too late for him. James had accused her of feeling more than friendship for the man and Lily had soundly ended their school relationship based on his lack of trust in her.

James knew he had been somewhat correct in his accusations; neither talked about it now. He would take Lily in what ever
way he could have her. Lily felt it was wonderful to be had by someone.

Lily stood out on her parents steps and looked up at the night stars. To be James Potter's wife would be a wonderful thing. To
be the wife of a man who wasn't afraid to love her back and to show his love.

She would tell him yes and leave school with him to join the Order.

Lily was about to go back inside when she realized she wasn't alone. She pulled her wand and demanded who ever it was to
    show themselves.

"Lily, don't cast at me. I have no desire to be blasted into next Tuesday."

"James!" Lily rushed into his embrace and he laughed at the warm greeting. She covered his face with kisses and laughed with
    him. "I love you, y

Interesting take on this theme. I liked the way that Lily had no clue how Severus felt, but I'm guessing that he would have been the type to not be direct about it. Looking forward to the next part! Could you PM me when you post it? Please?
