I'm glad we're obsessing over the "song"/"cue" distinction yet again rather than focusing on the larger issue at hand.

One line saying something "sucks" isn't exactly high level discussion of the "larger issue". ;)

Actually, I was talking about han_solo_321's wide range of musical acceptance. His seemingly total lack of discretion and universal positivity fascinates me.

Oh, and the GoF songs do suck. I stand by it.

I agree with Cerrabore. I'm not opposed to 'songs with words', I just hate this set of songs.

He likes everything. I postulate that this condition could be improved.

I try to like everything. And I do enjoy the GOF tracks (notice I never call them songs lol) but sadly they aren't nearly as inventive or magical as John's. Complete and total universal liking of all music sounds great when you post it, but in truth I don't think that anyone really does actually like absoloutley everything, no matter how non-discriminant they are. (Even me!!)

That's exactly the point - in your own opinion, you like everything.

Anyhow, who says that Williams has to have other scoring projects for his calendar to be "too full"? Maybe he just wants to lighten his load. Maybe he has some other non-film projects in mind.

Why do you try to accept everything?

If there is no evil, then there is no good either. (Yes, I could wayyyy overstep my bounds and talking about all sorts of politics and religion and philosophy, but let's just apply this to music.)

well whats wrong with having a wide range of taste, and here on htese boards there does seem to be a anti-lyric music society, i try to bring up Opera and everyone steps away sheez.![face_not_talking]

No, no, I love a broad range of taste. That's different from listening indiscriminately. I listen most to film music, but that doesn't mean I can't hate a lot of it. And I do.

I hate being a hater. Obviously it is a false ideal as it is near impossible, but it is an interesting quality to pursue. Hating things gains one few friends (as does loving things as I have found) However I'd rather love everything than hate everything.

I'm not advocating being a "hater." I'm advocating trusting your own gut. When I listen to something and don't like it, I don't make excuses for its faults. I don't try to enjoy it because it's the nice thing to do. I mentally file it in the crap bin and find something better.

By the way, I don't "hate" music for no reason. I'm absolutely passionate about some music, and that passion can go both ways.

Quite true. There is no reason why someone shouldn't be able to think what they like.

Wow, we have gone off topic. (no thanks to me lol)Maybe we should get back to discussing GOF.

Yes but a clear vocabulary and collection of terms applying to said music makes it much easier to discuss things in a clear manner. When one is working with music in a film, there can be both songs and cues (as in the case of GOF). It becomes necessary to distinguish between the different types of music used within a film.
