Is Voldemort's theme in the Sorceror's Stone soundtrack? I'd like to hear it.

There is *a* Voldemort theme. It's played in both PS and CoS. "The face of Voldemort" and "Meeting Tom Riddle" both contain it - it is a classic, cliched villain theme that I'm sure I've heard before in a thousand other films. It's played on muted trombone.

I assume this is one theme that won't be coming back. There will be a new one, though.

It is a good theme, but WAAAAY too obscure to make it in the 4th film, but I could be wrong. Jabba's theme made it into TPM. The way I see it, most people only know Hedgwig's theme and the Nimbus 2000's theme.

I think he means the flying theme, like at the beginning of Mr Longbottom Flies. I also think the theme usage in GoF should revolve more around what is needed for the story rather than what the average Joe might be able to whistle. I think they need to use Fawkes' theme when he resurfaces, several of Harry's/Hogwarts/Gryffindor themes as well. Lastly, the Window To The Past theme for Harry's Parents is critical.

My thought on it is, if there is already a fantastic established theme for a character or situation, why write a new one?

I completely agree, Strilo, but I doubt as to whether Mr Doyle does.

Well, at least a new Voldemort theme wouldn't be bad. I wouldn't mind that. But I really wish Harry's WW and A Window to the Past Make it in...

Radiohead fan site At Ease Web has posted an exclusive 38-second file sample of a song which will appear on the fourth movie soundtrack. The song, entitled "This Is the Night", is one of the Yule Ball band's songs.

That track isn't too bad, and it has a neat rendition of Hedwig's theme.

This is the Night - [face_plain] Not cool.

The Story Continues is actually pretty good. As someone mentioned, it has a interesting version of Hedwig's Theme. I'm looking forward to the score, should be good if this is any indication . . .

Actually, I thought it was DarkLordoftheSith14, and as he isn't a regular I didn't think he'd get annoyed. Sorry. I shall give you more love in the future, Indiana_Fett (look I used your name!)

While I like Doyle's work, this just doesn't have the same mysticism that overtook me like the other Potter scores. Don't get me wrong, its an interesting take on Hedwig's theme, but louder instrumentals do not make it better.

    And like that...he's gone.

You haven't even seen the scene it is played in, or the context of the general score. I don't think we can start to criticise it for being too loud or too soft or anything yet.

I had some dislike for The Immolation Scene, Anakin's Betrayal, General Grievous, and Anakin's Dark Deeds before ROTS came out. I now love these cues.:D

Actually, I think it has a clear Elfman feel about it. I can't wait for the film!

Really?!?! That was the thing furthest from my mind while listening . . . hmm, I guess one track is hardly the basis for in-depth analysis. We'll just have to wait until we get the full thing, I guess.

Well, I got that invasion feel. Not sure if others did. Which Elfman work does it resemble to you?

Not so much a specific work, but rather that general ideosyncratic, kooky magical feel that Elfman is so good at.

For any who are interested, this year's other fantasy score from Patrick Doyle is reviewed here.
