I didn't notice that about the Durmstrang dress uniforms during the movie, but in the publicity shots they do look very much like Imperial tunics.

As for the Beaubatons, there are two shots here that are decent if not for the reflections in the glass. I'm sure better ones will turn up soon.

Hopefully it'll do for a start.

Yeah I'm horrible to go watching movies with because I'll deconstruct the costumes in the movie. Not that I would plan to make it, but I would how to, I guess that's the point. The reason when I first saw that dress tunic and thought of the imperial uniform is that in the EU there was a character that had a red uniform.

It was 'Iceheart' aka Ysanne Isard, who wore the red uniform.

Ah, thank you. I knew someone would have known that one off the top of their heads, being Turkey day I didn't have the time to look it up.

While I'm not completely done with the outfit I had to wear it for Halloween, the main prop (and this time it's not the wand) begged for attention so who was I to say no. So I tossed on what parts I did have (which is when I found out that my grey sweater is too small and has a big hole in it now :() So I ended up with a black sweater and a black tie... I told people I was a recent new teacher at the school. The night went great and even went to the midnight release of ROTS in the outfit where a few girls came out just to get a picture with me and Eros (the main prop, and yes he's real), they didn't want a picture with anyone else there, just us.

(the image is a pit distorted from the scan I did, sorry about that)

Nice costume, so far. Nice ratty, too. Mine used to join me on my shoulder when I dressed as Prof McGonagall to greet the kiddies at the door on Halloween.

Yeah, any time I have an event that I can take Eros with me I do, he loves to meet people and tries to go out of his way to get you attention.

Thanks, I'm good on pics now, I've looked up lots of them, even a few screen grabs, does any one have a guess on what the width of these things might be.
I was thinking half an inch....
Any one else want to chime in on this?

Not sure if it's been covered here, but I'm looking into getting a "first-year" robe made for a little Hermione wanna-be. Who carries a Gryffindor patch that is movie-accurate? I've seen several on ebay, and they all look a little different.

I'd suggest Wizarding School Robes. Great service and accuracy

I've got a few pictures of hers and a link to her website. I have the three pictures off the website so I wont post it.

I've asked for more pictures for a better look at it before I start so I'll post those once I recieve them. The bottom one is good for a close up on the work of the hoodie.

I'm not good at carving or anything so I usually just buy them. Unless you plan on using them for something other then display then I'd suggest buy. Alivans.com is great for buy real wood wands and NobleCollection.com has ones that look just like the ones from PoA and GoF but their mostly for display
