I remember the show when I was in primary school but I haven't had a chance to watch the new one. How does it compare? I know the names of gladiators are different, and somehow not so good.

In the old gladiators my fave was Fury and Taipan, who would do his little dance when he won on hang Tough.

So how is the new show? Anyone putting their thumbs down? ;)

I saw the first episode only and games in themselves are pretty much the same (except for the new games obviously). The Gladiators are lame and cheesy especially when they are asked to comment, other than that the only thing missing is Mike Whitney.

The first show peaked at 1.8 million viwers, which is massive for a 6:30pm-7:30pm timeslot, so I guess somebody is watching it.

Gladiators was always lame and cheesy, what was really funny was when there were fihts. Vulcan was the best at getting agro IIRC

I used to play gladiatiors with my sisters in the backyard ;)

    Is the eliminator the same?

I think so...except the have to run up a skateboard quarter pipe at one point and instead of the big paper cross-hatch stuff they swing through at the end...it's a curtain of water!

    OF WATER!

It isn't the same without Vulcan, but it's cheesy fun, just the way I remember it :p

A curtain of water would be refreshing at the end of the eliminator. it used to be paper.
And I still remember that Brit girl Eunice who when she was winning the Ashes show against the Aussie girl stopped at the top of the travelator and waved to everyone. What an idiot!

And kart, Vulcan was a good combo with the brit gladiator wolfman. ;)

The female gladiators this time around are much hotter than the ones in the past. All the gladiators show no real form of personality at all and some of their taunts and comments are very basic lol. Viper's pose is a laugh

The names sound dumb, I guess it's beacuse they used all the good names in the first Gladiators.

I saw the first episode (I think?) and Outlaw's pyramid dives were awesome.

But I haven't seen any since because I never get to catch the eliminator since SYTYCD is always on right after it.

Yep the pyramid has the biggest hits and falls. One of the poor lady contestants last week done her knee in and could not complete lol

Indeed I have watched this show. I didn't know you can drop 50 IQ points just by turning a TV on.

I'm putting my thumb down far enough to plug a hole lol.
I remember the old gladiators being alot better and I don't know if its because it actually was a lot better or because I was young and time has affected my memory.

I would like to kick viper in the head she annoys me greatly

I think it's good for a giggle, as in it's so cheesy it's funny :p

I have to agree with everyone on the Viper front, her pose is silly and she talks funny... But the gladiators this time around are more attractive than their predecessors so that gets points in my book ;)

Although I'm not overly happy with Bill Harrigan. I mean really, just because the challenger slammed into a gladiator and knocked her down doesn't mean she should be penalised (referring to the latest episode)

It is a no-brainer show but it is a welcome refesh from all the reality tv still around. I would love to see a spin-off action series where the gladiators use their special powers lol

lol true. The Gladiators need some acting lessons and someone to write their lines for them (perhaps someone does!). They all lack personality.

I would like to see more average contestants on the show instead of superfit athletes.
