FF:QLD Has Been? Far From It!

I bought my first CD in over 5 years yesterday, William Shatner's New Album; Has Been.

One Word, genius.

The Album was arranged by Ben Folds and opens with a cover of Pulp's Common People and it's as good as the original (but for different reasons) Bill's odd inflections are hilarious when it comes to lines like "She told me that her Dad was loaded, I said, in that case I'll have a Rum and Coca Cola."

There's some deeply personal stuff on the Album too as Bill covers the whole spectrum of his life and even his imminent death. What Have You Done,A Poem about his wife drowning is beautiful and sad and That's Me Trying, a song about his daughters is sad, touching and funny (Ben Folds sings backup).

Other stand-outs include the title track Has Been, I can't get behind that (a scream-fest with Henry Rollins) and a little country song called Real (which may as well be called I am not Kirk).

So if you like Bill or you're just after something unique, check out Has Been.
