Saga Has your preference changed?

Mine changes all the time. Sometimes the poor acting and bad editing of the PT bother me, sometimes I overlook it. Of all 6 films, AOTC needs the most work, IMO-a complete reedit. No other film in the series is so flawed.

Right now I rank them:

1. ANH
2. ROTS
3. TESB
4. ROTJ
5. TPM
6. AOTC

 

The original two films are timeless masterworks. Return of the Jedi, The Phantom Menace, and Attack of the Clones are downright embarrassing and should be erased from existence. Revenge of the Sith, flawed though it is, comes closest to re-capturing the majesty of the original films. I rank the films as follows:

I really think the two trilogies have a completely different mentality and feel, so Ill treat them as separate stories

Well, since we're on the fans board, that shouldn't be surprising. The general public probably loved it the most, and the critics would probably still call it the best and most important in terms of the history of the cinema. However, to fans, it might seem too small and somewhat disconnected from the rest of the saga (not reall ANH's fault, of course, but due to later game changing decisions).

 

You have a point, and when you look at it that way, I'd bet most people's favorite (as in the most meaningful one) would be ANH. However, I think that when most people rank the movies it is based on simply what they enjoy watching the most without having a biased opinion based on which came first.

Mine's in my sig and it hasn't changed since Revenge of the Sith came out. It was my favorite since the first time I saw it! Before ROTS, I ranked them the same way, well without ROTS obviously.

My preferences hasn't changed very much other than to accommodate the PT-movies. When I was a kid, I regarded ROTJ to be the strongest of the three movies but now 25+ years later I regard it as one of the weakest. Other than that:

EDIT: It's really a tie between TESB and ROTS but I list TESB first.

No way in hell Ewoks beat Storm Troopers in a battle...NO WAY!!

 

Attack of the Clones is better than Return of the Jedi.

No Ewoks...better saber duel...Jango dies like a man, Boba not so much.....Padme is more sexy than Leia...Clone Troopers are more skilled than Storm Troopers.

 

Ep 3 is like 6 years old now, add 10 years of dust to it, it will still be a great movie. Dont see how 3 is lower than any of the 4 5 6 set up.

When you say Original are you referring to A New Hope or OT?

 

When I was younger I preferred the prequels, and The Phantom Menace was my favorite movie ever.

ok well you says its tops because its the original, I rank it 3rd of the 6...mainly because of the chapter before and after it. By it self Episode 4 is kinda boring TO ME. Not any outlandish moments like in Return of the Jedi, but after seeing what all happens in Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope is a positive turn around in the story.

 

Why do you feel 2 & 5 are the best chapters in the saga? What exactly makes them so great to you?

 

I didn't say that ESB and AOTC were the "best" chapters. I was stating that they were my "favorite" chapters. There is NO "best" chapter. It's all a matter of opinion.

I loved the stories and epic qualities of both ESB and AOTC the most.

Nonsense! Leia seems like she has something going on behind her eyes. Padme seems drugged in AotC.
