I am really unhappy that my girlfriend's best friend has dragged us 20 miles into the middle of nowhere to go to a $30 "haunted farm". Listen to my complaints. I used my phone. Beware.pf.typos.
Went to a "haunted house" for the first and last time in the late '90's, and thought it was just alright. I don't think these things are really supposed to scare most people, but are just entertaining. I remember seeing one of the "actors" at the house with white make-up, and told him "You really need a tan"
Last Haunted House I went to we were packed in like sardines and the surprises around every corner were always spoiled by the group of girls just ahead of us being targeted. It was not worth the price.
I am going to the "Field of Screams" next Friday. Haunted house, haunted 3 acre maze, haunted hay ride and a haunted forest ending with a beer garden. I am looking forward to it.
Years ago I went to this haunted farm called Silo X. Some guy jumped out at us from behind a tree and my brother punched him in the face. It was hilarious(not for the guy who got punched). I've been to a few cornfield mazes out here that were pretty fun.
Not all haunted houses are lame. Pictured: The greatest Dark Ride ever created. Some people would say the Disneyland version...but this one wins out because of the Escher Corridor.
My university runs a haunted hose for the surrounding community every year. We have to do 20 hours of community service every semester or work at the house for 3 nights. One year I did that and it was pretty fun. My first night I was a tarp watcher and stood in a dark corner covered in a black cloak to make sure people went down the right hallway, and also to watch the girl in the exorcist room to make sure guys aren't touching her or anything. It was fun cause when the line got backed up and people were just standing in front of me they'd think I was a mannequin and I'd just say hi or wave and the girls would freak out and knock all the guys over. The next night I was in the boo room at the end where it's completely dark and we wait for people to come in and then slam chains and pots together and flash the lights and scream at them. The next year I didn't work on it but went with friends and it was interesting seeing it from a guest perspective even if I knew everything that was going to happen. I do pitty the people who worked in the strobe room. We did 6 hours every night and the strobe room is just a checkerboard room with a strobe light flashing every second. I got a headache after 10 minutes, don't know how those people did it.
The one at Eastern State Penitentiary in Philly is always pretty cool. Of course it depends on if you like that sort of stuff or not.
Lame haunted houses are lame. I've been to a couple of good ones. They really need to have the right people running them.
