Escort can be done well, though. I'll hear no argument that Resident Evil 4 isn't fantastic.

I found GTA IV incredibly boring. I didn't care about Niko, I loathed my 'friends' constantly bothering me and the lame mini-games, and only liked the music by using that one station that only plays the music you load into the game. I've never technically finished it, as I never finished the final mission. My biggest complaint is that the entire game I felt like I was playing a big loser who constantly fails over and over (usually during cutscenes) - the official game guide even snarkily alludes to this by mentioning how all the criminals seem to wind up dead or in bad situations. I have no desire to be a crime boss, but in a game like GTA I'd like a little more than "You spent seven missions chasing after a bag of diamonds that ends up in the hands of a hobo".
The two DLCs I thought were much, much better - especially the Ballad of Gay Tony, whose over-the-top final mission harkened back to San Andreas.
And Saint's Row 3? Over-the-top is the way to go for me.

So, the Citadel DLC for Mass Effect 3 is pretty much the best thing ever. What a send off.

I cried after finding the datapad Mordin had sent... :_|

I feel the social system in GTA IV was an experiment with mixed results. It was obviously intended to make the city feel more alive, and for awhile, it works. Once you get twenty hours into the game, or so, it becomes nothing but a distraction, and an annoying one. I only went out with anyone to get the various benefits they offered. That all ties into what I said earlier about how so many people love the supposed freedom a sandbox offers, but I have a hard time seeing it as anything other than filler that drags the important portions of the game down. Red Dead Redemption has probably done the best job in making a sandbox where it's often as fun to ride around and do side missions as it is to proceed with the main game.

That said, I have to give props to the soundtrack. The GTA series has always had very good soundtracks. I only wish real radio was as musically diverse (I've heard satellite is, never tried it).

Very great to hear. Can't wait to play it this weekend.

For some reason, GTA IV's stations never clicked with me like the other ones. To me, there's nothing better than having running gun battles with gang members in your car with Lionel Ritchie blaring during "Vice City".

Since I haven't played any ME3 DLC -- how was the other one, anyway? No spoilers, I just want to know if it's worth getting or not.

Leviathan- Good, but not on the level of Lair of the Shadow Broker or Overlord. There's some squad banter, which is nice, and there's also a fairly important bit of lore that's explored. It also supposedly slightly changes the ending, but I haven't beaten the game since I played it, since I can't confirm. Most likely just the inclusion of the Leviathan in the final battle.

Omega- Very average. Mostly just a straight action packed mission. Obviously, the selling point is being able to play with Aria and a female Turian. Beyond that, it's nothing exceptional.

So I finished the first book of Malazan. The Jaghut Tyrant ended up being fairly anticlimactic, but otherwise it was cool.

There's a big set-piece mission in San Andreas where you're riding a motorcycle down a drainage shaft thingy (the thing in Grease; whatever they're called) and having to shoot back at a bunch of cars chasing you. When I played the mission the first time, Killing in the Name JUST HAPPENED to be playing on my radio, and climaxed JUST as the fight went totally nuts. Best. Game memory. Ever.

@Coop: There's an entire mission in Saint's Row the Third that is pretty much structured around the song "Power". It's wicked sweet.

I always thought that this was an urban legend, but today I brought a master replicas saber hilt (no blade) on my carry on bags and TSA freaked out. So they opened my bag to take it out and scan it separately, but once they brought it to the machine the tech apparently recognized what it was because he started cracking up.

Not anymore he's not. Now he's on the TSA "Known Jedi" list.

Won't this destroy his Imp cred?

You should have ignited the lightsaber with the Force. Give the guard something to laugh about.

Wrongo. It's His Imperial Majesty's hilt. I mean, c'mon. Do you guys know me, like, at all? :p

Edit: guess I should've tried to hide it inside my sleeve though, or perhaps an Atrisian statue...

So it seems the AC4 logo will be rather prominent in-game. Looks a bit silly, honestly.

He has one hell of a sword. Loved that bit near the end where he holds it aloft in the crowd and people can *hear* the wheels and chains inside of it.

There's really not much else I can say that would do him justice. I will say that some of the elements associated with him (the sword, his appearance, that *moon* he conveys himself about in, his personal opposition to the Empire) remind me of Elder Scrolls, in a good way.
