Oh, dang, it won't let you restore without an email address? I just had to put my nation name in and password, and it gave me the restore option.

What's yours called? I'm currently chilling (lol) in Europe since it was where I started originally, but if a bunch of us join I'll think about reviving the JC region I made.

Cool! I got Whiskeyjack from Steven Erickson's Malazan series, which I haven't read but is definitely within the ballpark of the world/story I'm working on. And scanning over the character's wiki description, he's actually reasonably similar.

I tried this, & it gave me someone called Alina from Shadow and Bone, with which I'm not familiar at all. (Anyone know?)

First volume in a YA fantasy set in a Russia-type environment with the usual magic etc. Haven't read it, but I've heard it's good, and I have a copy somewhere on Mount To-Read.

That's not something limited to fanfic. I find it very interesting to see what results I get when putting in information about the characters from the original story I'm working on.

Yep, that's what I used. My result is yet more confirmation that I should read the Malazan books.

This thing is NUTS. Come up with a person--real or fictional, but someone you know a decent amount about--and it will almost always guess it. It guessed Boba Fett in, like, 15 questions only.

I'ma drop some increasingly more obscure EU stuff in there and give that a shot...

Ha, I was going for Jennir, but it came up with Cade in 20 instead... then Zayne Carrick after 50... and Corran Horn after like 80. No dice on that one!

I stumped it wit Chop'aa from the PS2 version of TFU. To it's credit it did guess Calo Nord, whose description is very similar to Chop'aa's.

Speaking of anachronistic games, anybody remember nationstates.net? It's that web page where you solve political issues and get s ridiculously caricatured nation as a result. We used to have a JC group.

I decided to check it out on a whim, as I had one of the earliest nations on it like twelve years ago and j wanted to see if it was still there. It was long deleted, but I could restore it. I went to the message boards to see if it had my registration date. I discovered three things:

I. My reg date was so old that my nation founding was marked as "antiquity," as compared to the swaths of people registered from 2003 - 2014.

II. The message board is improbably active, more than ours even. Strange for the modern era.

III. On that note, I was greatly amused when I remembered my old nation was ice-themed and that my flag was a snowflake in a laurel wreath. There are threads there where other users can write posts about what your nation's name and flag remind them of, and everybody just said "Arendelle ruled by Queen Elsa."

Honestly I couldn't have been more pleased with decisions I made over a decade ago I had to restore my deleted flag, and when I learned they no longer had to be 107px in size I decided to use Elsa's snowflake on the larger one instead of the one I had before. Might as well! But I'm otherwise keeping true to my "iced Roman Empire" theme.

But anyway if you haven't played it before, I highly recommend going to nationstates.net and making one. And if you've played it before they've added features like graphs and stuff where you can compare your states to other people.
