    How is Jar Jar Binks able to defy physics with that flip when he jumps into the water while leading Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon to Otoh Gunga?

    The Darth Plagueis scene. He can't take a hint? Palpatine is talking about how he despises the Jedi, and how does he know so much about the Sith?

    I always found it interesting that this scene bothers people. If I were running the Jedi Academy, I would have a segment on Sith studies. I always thought it was a failing of the film that the Sith weren't common knowledge to all Jedi by age 5, and generally known to the population that has contact with the Jedi... senators, servants, and so forth.

    What I'm hoping for here is the in universe answer that explains how he changes direction mid-air with no leverage with which to help him do so.

    I'm pretty sure the jump is just part of his species. I doubt Jar-Jar has the mental ability to train himself to be a talented gymnast far beyond the capabilities of his species.

    The Wook article talks about how Gungans have powerful calves and knees. Those are the things needed to pull of such a flip, so it makes sense for that flip to be an ability of the species.
