Yes. First fight was while I was walking to school in the 2nd grade, about 20 in between for various reasons, and the last fight was because some drunk idiot at a Bears/Falcons game threw a beer at my brother. I might have been escorted out of the Georgia Dome in handcuffs and I might have had to pay for the dude's medical bills...moral of that story is don't **** with my little brother. Especially if I have been drinking for 12 hours straight by that point.

Bogan refers to the traditional working class, who in Sydney inhabit a lot of the west. Due to the success of a lot of tradesmen or "tradies", some are well off however they have no inherent class and cannot escape their bogan (or "boge") roots.

(Australians abbreviate every word to some colloquial diminutive because we're lazy. We also use "heaps" as a qualifying adjective, i.e. "he's heaps boges". Now you try it!)

Anyway, there's a big difference between a bogan or "boge" and a pack of roided up nitwits looking for trouble (and secretly grateful Lando isn't there to sort them out, sternly). The idiots tend to come from the South (when largely white; helpfully they tattoo their racism in the form of the southern cross constellation) or the South-West (largely a variety of ethnic backgrounds, including the Lebanese people that John Oliver was confused by the reaction to. This group does not have a racist identifier like the others).

At least you've only got to worry about them in the west of Sydney. If you're in Perth, of course, it is the west, and most of them make more money than the rest of us.

When I was a teen a couple of times, yes, as I grew up in a rough neighborhood and I was the sick gnu among my friends. I didn't do that bad considering I was punching aimlessly like the spaz I still am. I actually knocked a tooth once, although I suspect it was more or less loose before I hit it, as I hit the poor kid with the strength of a ballerina after chemotherapy and the guy was suddenly whimpering and with a bloody mouth. Over time I got a reputation of talking my way out of fights, no matter how bad things looked, and I kind of liked it there.

Never as an adult.

 

i have been in exactly two fights. the first was in the third grade. i had an argument with this fat kid, michael. i don't remember what it was about, but it was the classic "meet at the spot after school" fight. it was a pretty big ordeal, lots of people showed up to watch. then when we squared off to fight my friend ramon snuck up behind michael and took his shoe. michael started crying like a baby. i felt pretty bad, but i won that fight.

the second one was in 7th grade. i was sitting on the bleachers in p.e. class, just minding my own business, probably thinking about how cool it would be if they ever made those star wars prequels, when suddenly out of the blue this big bully kid who was sitting behind me just kicked me down the ****ing bleachers. i got up, relatively unscathed and tried to make a fight out of it. there was a lot of scratching and slapping and hair pulling and eventually i got this kid in a headlock before the teacher showed up and broke it up. i think we both got detention, which was really unfair, but i guess i would call that fight a tie.

 

I am currently fighting the urge to eat a bunch of cheese and sausage.

One time my friend and I were at a bar and these two guys were being pretty rude to my friend. Then one of them got mad when I offered to buy him a drink, so he shoved my friend to the floor and pulled out a blaster. So I cut his arm off with my lightsaber.

 

*sigh* the first sentence of this post is no longer true. i got beat up in a biker/hot rod/rockabilly bar where i was swing dancing tonight. im still not sure why. i will try to post details tomorrow when i may have more information as to motive.

this was a little over three hours ago now (i of course stuck around to ice my face and dance some more afterwards, lol) and my septum may have been deviated, (but other than that i just have some bruising. it wasnt really a fight per say because a guy with a decent amount of height and a good deal of weight on me ran up to me full speed and punched me in the back of the head and then proceeded to hit me a few times more before being pushed away. i didnt really retaliate or even react much at all. i didnt even drop my cell phone (i was texting when the first blow came). my reaction was pretty much encapsulated in my verbal reaction "Whoa! What's going on man? What are you doing?" however one of the women tending to me afterwards insists it counts as having been in "a fight"... so i post...

(my knowledge of bikers is limited to the 3 seasons of sons of anarchy i watched before realizing i had stopped liking the show at all by like the end of the first season)

The punch you don't see coming is the most dangerous one, could have been bad even if the guy didn't know how to throw a good shot.
