I don't know if any of you would be interested in this, but, the next
technology in DVD is the HD-DVD. Currently dvd has 480 lines of horizontal
resolution. Lately, Artisan & Microsoft have been playing with a new compression
codec that would allow 1080 lines of resolution (HD) to be put on a single
DVD disc (And played via WMP9 technology). Now Artisan is putting out "T2: Extreme
Edition" due out in June and will include the ENTIRE movie in a HD format on Disc 2.
If you have a good PC (p4 1.8 and up) you can use WMP9 to play it or hook it up
to a HDTV monitor. I don't think this will end up how HD-DVD will be done in the
    end but its a start.

OH, and HBO just announced that CLONES will be brodcasted in an HD format (1080i)
on June 14th :) I'm not sure how they will show it yet (Cropped or OAR) but I will be
on standby for this one. Maybe we could make a movie night out of it if anyone was
    interested.

    JUST FYI

    Kev

Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see how this technology develops. They're still trying to figure out just what kind of format they want to use for HD, but regardless, it will definitely be the next big step.

However, if you're worried that your DVD player and movies are going to become obsolete tomorrow, don't. HDDVD won't be a major format for years to come, and even then, HD DVD players will be backwards compatible with all DVDs, whether they are HD or regular.

    Yeah...I'm not worried...The public wouldn't buy a player that wasn't backwards
    compatible ( I might...but thats another story ;) )

I am really hoping CLONES is OAR on HBO.

June 14 is a Saturday, so who wants to host?

I'm a CLONES 'OAR, but have seriously low-def TV and sound ;)

I will host if there is any interest in coming to Ft Worth. I have a new HD
    monitor. Should look great.

I have no objections to driving out to see it with you, Kevin.

We always do so much in Big-D, a little drive to Cow-town won't kill us, i think... ;)
