    Ok, the HDV format was apperantly agreed on by Sony, Canon, JVC and Sharp. Here's hoping for a Canon HD/16:9/24p XL2.

    Here's hoping for a Canon HD/16:9/24p XL2.

    This is probably the only place in the world that you could say that, and most everyone knows exactly what that is. :p

    "BS digital high-definition broadcasting, which started December 2001"

    Yes, but BS analog broadcasting has been around for decades longer.

    "720p = rotoscoping hell?"

    Nope because when they say 720p they're actually saying 720 lines of resolution progressive frames at whatever the framerate is: 60p, 30p, 50p, 25p. In a way it makes sense used in this method instead of saying I shoot 30p at 720 x 480. They just combine the vertical size with the shooting mode, being progressive in this instance. Then since 'usually' the framerate is region dependant they leave that out.

    Does anyone else picture the XL2 being blue wherever the XL1 was red?

    Is it just me?

    I'm trying to picture what it would look like.

    One thing that *may* be helpful is the fact that it will be abandoning the 4.1.1 standard for the (IMO) better PAL format of 4.2.0. They both have their negative qualities. I'd like to see 4.2.2 like DigiBeta but then the makers of that product would be out of a job IMO. :)
