Toronto *** Heads up! Attack of the Clones on IMAX ***

Ok its been officially announced that Star Wars, Episode II: Attack of the Clones is going to be shown on IMAX screen starting November 1st!

This is not a 70mm print being shown in the middle of the screen, as is typical for "normal" movies being projected on an IMAX screen. The movie has been re-mastered to fill the whole screen!!!!!

Combine that with the great sound system, and this will be a not to be missed event.

Details are still not available. Will post them as we get them. Don't forget there is an IMAX screen in Niagara Falls as well as in Toronto. My personal opinion is it will only be in Toronto though.

I've posted this in the Ontario General forum as well as here and in Niagara. Its a good opportunity to plan a big gathering to go see it.

 

This is great! Along with the Apollo 13 IMAX release this month, the remainder of this year looks to be a costly one! I (and I'm sure many others) would be really interested if there was an event planned to go watch the premier together... should be fun!

which imax theatre in toronto are we talking about here? or is this just ALL imax theatres in toronto which will be showing the film?

I put my money on Ontario place. I remember seeing return of the Jedi there as a kid. I loved ewoks. Didn't comprehend the whole Yoda dieing moment for it's depth.

 

i believe ontario place has an omnimax theatre, not an imax

 

The Cinesphere is considered an IMAX theatre (it's the Science Centre that has the Omnimax) so it would be in the running. Thtoughout the GTA, there's also the Paramount, the Colossus out by Woodbridge, and the Collosium at Square One.

I'll put my money on Colossus being the one chosen since they had the DLP there for the longest time.

Rumors are floating around that the IMAX presentation of AOTC will be 25 minutes shorter. I wonder what scenes will be chopped?

 

I think it's pretty much confirmed to match standard Imax running times - I guess the film stock or whatnot can only really go for a set amount of time. Apollo 13 is also having a about 25 minutes cut out from it.
