I just got through e-mailing one Katherine Grant, who is working with LucasFilms on the Denver Mother's Day gig. She looks forward to working with us, so I need everyone to post what duties they would be willing to perform and/or what equipment each individual would be willing to bring. Here's our chance, troops, to bring the Rocky Mountain FanForce to the forefront of Star Wars fandom!!!! Details will be posted ASAP. As I said a while back....

    FIRE IN THE HOLE!

If this has something to do with charity, maybe me volunteering for something important here could make a good EPR bullet for me, eh? :).

See, I can have fun and make myself look good to the AF at the same time!

As soon as the details, arrive, I'll post them, but for now, offer what you know you can do or come up with that may pertain to a public event.

Been trying to get this card thing off the ground but it doesn't look like it's going to fly. I would have to say that I would probably be up for some security.

Since this is a Children's charity, that doesn't necissarily mean there are going to be a bunch of kids there right?

Cause the only thing I'm pretty much experianced in is as a Camp councilor/child care provider. Oh, and I'll be working in an Art therapy program for terminally ill kids at the local hospital in a week.

Like I said, when I have more details, I'll post them, but for now, if you'd be willing to do anything, simply state what that MIGHT be, and we'll take it from there. Since this event(child abuse charity)is being sanctioned by Kempe and LucasFilms, I'd be willing to bet it's a pretty big affair, so they may need a variety of duties performed as well as have a need for certain items....I'm going to suggest that they blend their efforts with ours(the Urban Peak auction and costume contest), but they may already be locked on for only so much time, space or other constraints, so we'll have to be flexible.

I might be able to, but first of all, I'm 13, and I may have a hard time getting a ride and there are positions I might not be able to get. Tell me what I can get and I'll see if i can go.

ok, im pretty familiar w/ Large organized gatherings. And if they are wanting vols then they will probably be needing folks to clean up the entire theatre after the movie, this will more than likely involve parking lots, bathrooms, concessions, and the theatre itself. there could also be jobs for ticket taking, line management, selling goods, doing local promoting to radio, tv, newspapers, schools buisness's. depends really on how lucasfilm wants to pursue this charity! MY MAIN QUESTION IS.. will the vollenteers be able to view the movie w/ a free ticket to a special viewing, that specific viewing or will we just be left in the cold as vollenteers? if so i will just try and get my tickets w/ cold hard cash!..so you want to know what i would be willing to do, well i would be willing to clean after the movie, promote to business's radio, tv, newspapers , i can take money for tickets, i can cook popcorn, pour coke,i can help the elderly, the young, and everybody in between,i can definatly keep people in lines, i can be the guy who escorts you to your seat, i can mc the charity, i can drive people to the movie, i will do whatever, i repeat whatever, well maybe not WHATEVER, i can think of a few things that would keep me from seeing this flick, but id do what it takes for me to get to see this flick asap!!! im sure u get me, i imagine most here would be willing to do whatever it took to get to see this viewing early. i sat in line for 19 hrs for ep 1, so i would say im willing to do whatever it takes to get 2 tickets to see the special viewing.

Hey I'd clean theater bathrooms for a ticket to EII. I'd even scub the theater floor with a toothbrush!

My suggestion is to ask them if they want a bunch of costumed SW Geeks to keep the crowd happy. It worked great @ the Denver Celebration. Fantastic Media had a great idea with that one. And don't forget to talk up our buddies @ the 501st, as well.

Oh, & I'm up for anything, too.

From what I understand, we will have to do our own tickets, ect, and all costs for us partaking will have to be by us....which is pretty much the way we had it set up for the May 15th showing, anyway. I just asked Ms. Grant if we would even have the opportunity to get these May12 premiere tickets, but she doesn't know yet. The details of venue and operational set-up are being finalized with LucasFilms this week. I am trying to include Urban Peak in this, but that will be tough. Way ahead of ya, Jen...already gave the heads-up about the costumes and the 501st.

WELL.....for the most part, you're helping out a good cause(child abuse victims and the unit that supports them), secondly, SOME OF US really like to act out and throw on the garb, and furthermore, some of us love the camera-eye and lastly, we want to make a real dent in the Star Wars fandom genre...you know, put RMFF at the head of the class as it were, kind of like the 501st, only 'lighter'!

I honestly don't care about it if I don't get to see the movie that night or if I get a free ticket or anything...that's kind of the point of volunteering, you're not doing it to get something out of it, you're doing it to help out.

(but I don't know if I can really talk about that b/c I'm getting an EPR bullet out of it regardless).

On that note, I will do any of the things mentioned above WHETHER OR NOT I am given a free ticket or get to watch or any of that stuff. I get a chance to volunteer and it has something to do with Star Wars and helping abused children? I'm so there.

I'll second that one. The whole point of this little adventure of ours is to help some people who need it, while having fun doing what we love.

Kit- Have you contacted Kerry about this new possibility, yet? I know they are having a budget shortfall right now, they just laid off a bunch of people.

To be frank, I don't think that's gonna happen, and I don't want to get their hopes up.....the bottom line here is that LucasFilms is backing Kempe, not UP, so it stands that unless Kempe want's to include them at their expense, they'll deny them an addition to the event. I tell ya true, if UP had stepped up with that letter to LucasFilms when I asked them, we might well be setting up their event instead of joining Kempe for this one. I know it sounds harsh, but I really believe they shot themselves in the foot, and I don't think Kempe is gonna share the stage....and who can blame 'em? After all, they went through all the rig-a-ma-row with LucasFilms for their cause, not anyone else's. And it hardly seems fair to even trouble Kempe with such a request, although I've already done so just in case...ya never kno, ya kno? It's a tough world out there, and if you expect to get the nuts, ya better be prepared to shake some serious trees!

If Kempe responds favourably to my request, then I'll contact Kerry...but not until.
