i still haven't picked up on the NJO yet. I'd like to read all of that, out of curiosity more then anything. I've read Vector Prime, but that's it so far.

I havent even read vector prime yet. I got stuck at CRYSTAL STAR I think. thats when I stopped reading the chronological order....never even started with NJO but it sounds so awesome....
now I'm all in the prequels with the clone wars and such...and with all the books coming out between ep3 and 4 I will stay with that partof the chronology for a while I guess :D

I loved the NJO, because it was so dark. I read about fifteen of the novels, but then stopped. I was thoroughly unimpressed with one of the books, so i just stopped... :p

And I would buy Labyrinth of Evil were it not $55... [face_plain]

Shatterpoint is great...and then Cestus is crap...but then the Medstar Duology is bloody brilliant! :D

    And I stopped...I can't remember, now... :(
My brain is kinda not working too well this morning...

I don't like the idea of the clones having personalities...and it's too vague, as well... :p

    IMO.

I just prefer the idea of them all being the same: Following orders, executing missions...

Otherwise they just become regulars...and Lucas may as well have recruited random mercs to do the jobs of the clones... :p

    My opinion, only...

they probably were just stupid clones at first but given they are clones of a real guy and have to also act intelligently you cant shut out a personality completely I guess. it will surface after a while.
but as far as I know these clones wont live long right? I think I read that somewhere...

    Hmmm...

As Palapatine stared at the army he had amassed, he spared his audience a sombre glance. These were to be the clones, the soldiers, that he would use against the Seperatists. They would also be the Republic's great undoing.

Suddenly, one by one, they all started to topple. First the commanders, then the sergeants, and then the troops. This was something that had not been expected.

Senator Palpatine felt a slight flutter of nervousness as he stared out over the thousands of armoured corpses.

Ah, bugger, he thought. What a terrible waste of tax payer credits... [face_plain]

Well, the Stormtrooper clones discuss a speeder in ANH (And don't tell me they're not clones, the whole point of AotC is to set up that fact).

Also, read in the RotS cross section book today, that there is a vehicle with two cockpits, leading both of the cloned pilots to debate over which is the true cockpit, so it seems to me the films allow them to have personalities.

According to the man himself, Lucas, they are.

He even calls the Clones Stormtroopers on the AotC DVD commentary, in fact, the only reason they were ever called Clonetroopers was to avoid confusion at the marketing end when it came to the action figures and similar.

Nowehere in the films are they ever called "Clonetroopers".

Going back even further: "The Stormtroopers are all clones...." - George Lucas, 1981 Starlog magazine interview.

Sorry, but it's his universe, and the EU writers of the 90's had no idea that they were all clones, which is why some of them became characters. But Lucas conveniently ignored all of that stuff when he wrote the prequels.

It's ok though, it's all fiction no matter which way you slice it. But the point is, it's Lucas' fiction, and if he says they're clones, then they're clones.

I thought I read in an interview with him that some of the stormtroopers are clones but that the emperor would of course also recruit NORMAL people....
but maybe that only meant for OTHER positions like officers and stuff...

    Exactly.

General rule, if it's wearing a helmet hiding it's face, it's a clone.

Well, it was more diplomatic than saying, "No, they're just extra actors in costume, and I lose absolutely zero sleep pondering whether or not some hack writer thinks that the 3rd gunner to the left has some tragic backstory that Lucas will contradict into oblivion with his next film." :p
