I'm just totally shocked and saddened. Eric texted me the news just a little while ago. Such a promising future thrown away like dust in the wind. He will now forever be remembered as the Joker...

yes this sad news, i enjoyed his older movies like the patriot and a knights tale. makes me wonder what will happen to batman now.

 

The only that might change is some of their marketing approaches, since a lot of the Joker stuff is dark and scary, they may cut back on a lot of that. But the film will still release in July as planned.

What really sucks is that we won't get to see Ledger ever revisit the role.

 

The brightest lights burn out the fastest... This is just tragic and awful, I hope it goes up to accidental rather than suicidal. And a major bummer that he won't revisit the Joker role in part 3; I think he was supposed to create Two-Face during a trial at the beinning of it, but that may have been internet rumor.
