    Bonjour!

Hello again. I have seen pictures of Paris and it looks like a cool place to visit.
What other places in France do you all suggest I visit?

    Pete :)

Everywhere. We are in one of the most beautiful country in the world.
It depends of what you want to see (art museum ? medieval castles ? sea ? mountains ? ... )

    Hi

Well...all four are interesting. How about we start with the art museums and castles.
I think they are most interesting. We don't have many castles here in New York...and I really like art. :)

France is amazing. I love the art there also and you can never run out of art museums to visit! ;)
Paris is awesome but I really love the countryside in the north. The small french villages especially on the water are so unique and beautiful. :)

Visit the Dordogne area!!! The town of Sarlat is beautiful! There are lots of caves with paintings that are tousands of years old (Lascaux). Other places I loved: Bastide de Domme, Chateau de Castelnaud, Beynac, the cave in Les Eyzies and La Roque Saint-Christophe.

Provence area is also very beautiful! LOTS if lavender, old towns. The "Grand Verdon-Canyon" is very impressive!

In the north I'd suggest Paris and Alsace region (late summer). It's a wine producing area so its nice to go there when the grapes are being harvested.
I liked the town of Riquewihr, Ribeauville and Colmar. There is a good restaurant in Hunawihr (name of the restaurant: Mittnacht they also have great wine. my fav: Pinot Gris)
Strasbourg is also a nice city, too!
The Vosges Mountains are great for day hikes!

And if you are more into medieval castles, then Carcassonne (in the South of France) is the place to go to. It's an entire middle-age town... Gorgeous.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. France sounds real cool.
The cave paintings sound cool, Thanks for the info Janne.
The middle-age town would be interesting also.

As far as visiting France...Probably not anytime soon. Right now its just a dream.
I do hope to visit France, Germay, and other places in Europe someday.
My friends at the German FF also gave me lots of suggestions.
Also I'll need to learn some French. :)

    Pete :)

    That sounds like fun.

Congatulations on the wedding Olivier. :)

Would anyone like to teach me a little French. It wouldn't have to be a lot.
Just a few words or phrases.

    :)

La vrance est un superbe Pays, tu dois juste eviter d'aller au Nord du pays vers Lille.
    Je trouve ce coin affreux...

And Jawa here is the living proof that a lot of French are.. let's say, English-challenged, so you may very well need those words and sentences! *giggles*

What he said means that *snort* Vrance is a beautiful country but that you should avoid going to the North, in the vicinity of Lille, as it is in his opinion an ugly place.

What words would you like to learn? The basic hello-thank-you-I-don't-speak-French, or something more advanced? "May the Force be with you" maybe ?

Olivier, welcome on this board, and congratulations!

well honestly, i don't think learning french on the net is of any use... the pronounciation is so much different to the spelling.
so learning how to write things won't help you at all...only if you write the things you want to say on a sheet of paper...

I thought of that too Janne, and your right I won't learn the pronounciation part.
But we can still give it a try. :)
I can always find a book later that will help with pronounciation.
    I'll write it down too.

Ok Twinnie and anyone else who would like to help.
    How do you say...

    Hello!
    My name is Pete.
    Thank you!
And for fun "May the Force be with you"

    And Bonjour Jawa24! :)

    Good morning : Bonjour
    "Bon matin" is not used

    How are you : Comment allez-vous ?
    Or "Comment vas-tu" ?

But I don't think this is very usefull because you don't really know how to pronounce it ;)
