Hi Hello From the Sunshine State.

Long time casual Star Wars fan, first time ever seeing this place. My first experience with the Star Wars world would have been with the Ewoks films. Since then, I have seen all of the movies (loved all of them) and I have read a few book series (The Jedi twins being trained by Luke and Jedi Apprentice)

While I know the primary gist of the Star Wars lore, and it's principle characters, I'm still very new to the world outside of the main films. I'm also not familiar with the side stories of Boba Fett, and other similar characters. I have also never seen the CGI show either (hangs head down in shame)

So, that's why I am here, to learn more. My favorite movies are Empire Strikes Back and Attack of the Clones. My favorite characters (there are so many to choose from) but the main ones that commanded my attention, Luke Skywalker, Lando Calrissian, Obi Wan Kenobi and R2D2.

And I am getting so excited for the new movie coming out soon. I am so glad Lupita is part of the cast now, and I am expecting great things from Boyega.

So, if I wanted to get more in depth details on Star Wars, anyone recommend a good book or youtube video that might be able to help? I see people keep on mention KOTOR when discussing future Star Wars solo movies. I'm not sure what that is, can anyone give me an idea, or link me to something that goes into more details.

I'm assuming you aren't spoiler free, and I saw you found the VII Spoilers Allowed already. With that in mind...

KOTOR is the acronym for Knights of the Old Republic, a game that is based on the Old Republic and set in 3,956 BBY.
It's actually a duology, and has a sequel (aptly named Knights of the Old Republic II). Along with it there are the Old Republic era books (now under the 'Legends' banner) and the game Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Within the Star Wars Films subforum we have some very interesting debates going on, encompassing all the films. (Along with a spot for socialising/games, other Lucasfilm movies, and film music.)
I also recommend that you check out the Expanded Universe sub-forum and the Star Wars TV sub-forum. They have a lot of information on the books and the TV shows.

Otherwise, you can always check out Wookieepedia. They have information ranging from RL authors, to games, to obscure characters. They also have a very useful Timeline of Books.

Keep in mind that the past EU has been (for the most part) moved under the heading Legends to make way for the new era of films. Excepting the movie novels, TV shows, and films: they are as-of-now considered non-canon.
Although, we don't know what will be promoted to the new universe! They have hinted at least some things might be migrating over.

Hey Hey to all my folks from the sunshine state! I am new here and was looking forward to all the new SW stuff coming in the near future. I also wanted to meet some local folks that share the love that is SW. I am glad to be aboard and hope to meet some really cool people and share some great SW knowledge and insight on it all!
