George kinda already did that and Torre gave him the middle finger and walked out.

 

I have to agree with what Joe Torre did. That offer was insulting.

Hmmm...I have to wonder how long Derek will stay with the Yankees now, depending on when his current contract is up. He may love them, but he's got a lot of respect for "Mr. Torre"(as he calls him, not by his first name) and that may play a big factor. Also, I wouldn't be too surprised if some of the free agents decided not to resign as result.

That's all pure speculation, I don't know when Derek's contract is up, but I'm just guessing some of that based on some of the comments in his autobiography.
