JCC Help me solve a roommate dispute

The lease ends this August and we're negotiating a new one.

First off act quickly. Renegotiate with him now today even. If the two decide that the big one costs more then so be it. He has to abide or else leave. Check your state but he has 30 days from when he decided not to renew. So if you decide two weeks from now he has 45 days. Work with your land lord on this. They will extend the lease if it means renegotiating of the agreement. Make an agreement for whomever has the big room as well. If he leaves and you get no one and you get the big room then work out an arrangement where you pay for it. Call your local tenants rights organization. They will help you out with this kinda thing. Trust me. I got a new landlord after the house was sold and they answered my questions.

He finally agreed to a $360, $330, $330 split - but I changed it to a $360, $335, $325 split because the other room is so much smaller than mine.

I still don't think that's enough more to be fair . . . but I feel like the principle (someone with a room twice as large and their own bathroom should pay more) is being honored, so I feel much happier with the living situation now.

 

I think that's a step in the right direction.
