    How long were the Jedi in exhistence before they were destroyed by Darth Vader/Anakin?

    I need it for a fic that will have to take place a certain amount of time from the beginning of the Jedi. Any help is appreciated. :D

    To quote Obi-Wan from ANH: "For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic." Sooo...assuming that each generation comes along once every 20-25 years, then that'd be anywhere between 20,000 and 25,000 years.

    According to the Star Wars Essential Chronology, the first Jedi Knights appeared 25,000 years before ANH (which is listed as 0 BBY in the book).
